Think thats a bit extreme for me, plus i wouldnt no how to! But i take your point and will remove it later.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Got an acer recently, very monotonous removing the games - dozens of them that were one level demos that wanted to go online so you could buy the rest of it. Had to remove one by one.
It also had MS Office trail and MS Works on, that went, Open Office instead. Removed crap security and put on Avira.0 -

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Type msconfig in the run bar at the bottom of the start menu. See what's sitting in your startup and untick the bits you don't need.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

There is usually a "restore to factory settings" partitioned on the hard drive of an Acer laptop.
This does what it says
it restores it back to day one, exactly how you got it from the shop.
Because Mcafee is only for 3 month, I`d get rid of it and load MS Essentials anti virus.
My PC has a 15 month Mcafee so I`ve left it on. (after all you have paid for it)0 -
From the question asked, I'd suggest the inquirer isn't ready to go Linux etc, so simple answer perhaps more suitable.
My Sis in Law has a new laptop, with a 60 day trial of Norton Security. Use it for the 60 days, and then change it for the protection of your choice, with a 60 day extension on what it would have been had you changed it immediately.
My personal choice, is Kasperski, which can be bought with a '3 user' licence, which does myself, my S in L, and a Niece for the price of one package......around £25 or less using on-line shopping.
NORTON however, have cottoned on to this, and have a '3 user' licence packackage, BUT....for 1 household, not three.
Best advice so far, is the change using 'msconfig' and unticking items in the 'startup' section that you don't need so they don't use resources (except HD capacity). The unwanted software can be uninstalled as and when after that.0 -
