The only photographic "proof" is a picture of a car. From that they have no way of identifying the driver if you don't contact them. As you know, even the police can't identify people from photographs if they are not known to them . That's why they have those photo appeals on Crimewatch
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

The only thing I'm worried about is being taken to court. I acknowledge that this is a rare and unlikely outcome, but consider I was actually parked right next to their parking sign and they will inevitably have photographic proof.
They must be completely stupid to take me, a police officer, to court given my defence. _pale_

But they won't have any proof of the driver. And you do not have to tell them, it's not like a real Council or Police PCN or FPN. They will just have a pic of the empty, parked car (maybe) but so what? In the Watchdog clip below the fake ticket was one with a pretty car picture as well:

Do not respond, just let them send their threatograms to the registered keeper who cannot possibly have entered into any contract unless they know that person and the driver was one and the same. Even in cases when they know who was driving (when a person has been credulous enough to 'appeal' and furnish them with that info) PPCs almost never do Court.

It would be interesting to see what your Police force thinks of the fake PCN though if it's one of those with a black & white chequered border. Or what they would make of the threatograms. Both of which would appear to breach the Administration of Justice Act as I linked above. Sadly I expect they won't be interested as this sort of breach is more Trading Standards' cup of tea perhaps.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We've seen APCOA threatograms before but for some reason have not got copies of them on our top sticky thread:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2214803

But they use one of the usual pet debt collectors so the standard letters will match one or other posting on that link. Nowt to worry about.

If you can, please do collect all the letters and post a reply on that sticky thread with links to pics/scans of them all in order (blank out ID of course). If you want Crabman the thread starter to check your pics are safely 'washed' of all ID info first you can pm him the links and he will only put them in the first post if he's happy they are anonymous.

It would be good to see APCOA up there in that Hall of Shame as they're a common subject here.

  • Hi, Im an APCOA Victim. I now know Im a stupid APCOA victim. I parked at Bristol parkway, read the free 20minute sign, went in met a relative from a train, came out, within 20 minutes and found a ticket on the car. £80 fine or £50 if paid in 14 days. I was so shocked I appealed straight away. Also the ticket was issued in 8 minutes. I WISH I HAD NEVER APPEALED! Now they have my name and address. BUT after 3 letters from me, including the last one with photos showing no signs, no reminders etc. I spotted that the numberplate they recorded on teir ticket was incorrect. So now Im in a silly muddle of having 'confessed' that I was there but that they have wrong plate recorded. I also spoke to First Great Weston who said the atttendent initials on the ticket were actually them (FGWC) and the signature on the ticket from the attendent is an x. I have not paid the fine and don't want to. Are they more likely to track me down and take me to court because I have given my home address, even though I don't own a car with the plate they recorded. Also when I sent a letter complaining about the signs, they wrote back with an image of temple meads sign. I wasn't ever parked there! Im trying not to worry, but Im in a breech of contract for never displaying a ticket for the free parking - I didn't know I was in contract with them... rather than overstaying. Their fine is outrageous. Im so annoyed with myself for panicing and writing to them in the first instance. DONT EVER WRITE TO THEM! I have complained to FGW, it is their car park after all, to Passenger Focus and to the British Association of Car Parks. If we all shout loudly and long enough, perhaps APCOA will go away!

No. They have never taken anyone to court ever. Because they'd lose and they know it.

Basically they want you to pay an invoice for a car you don't own, they will have absolutely no chance of winning should it go to court, they would laughed out of there, they are just basically trying to scam you, they are a complete joke of a company!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
