Onetel to Talk Talk Help required??

Hi
I’m currently with Onetel for my Broadband and phone calls
My Landline is with BT
Currently total cost for both per month is approx £60!!
Onetel were brought by Talk Talk a while ago and I’ve recieved a flyer today re changing over to Talk Talk
The deal seems very good
· I keep all my exisiting e-mail address (part of same company)
· Just the paper work side changes
· I appear to get a faster connection speed
I’ll have to swap my landline to Talk Talk from BT
Total cost for Broadband, inc Free evening and Weekend calls, Anytime european calls (free) all UK call (Free) is £26.77 per month from Talk Talk
A saving of £32 per month and close to £400 per year! :T
Seems a great deal to me
My questions is what are Talk Talk like?
Officiaily I am with them anyway as part of Onetel, but I’ve heard rumours they are not great and connection rates are v slow?
Any advice would be welcomed please...!
thank you

Onetel are owned by Talk Talk, this time last year they pestered me to switch. Despite telling them to stop in the end left them and now use Primus and the calls are much cheaper
You can always use another provider for net which I do0 -
Hello Batteryman,
If your happy with your onetel broadband and by that i mean speed and stability then you shouldn't notice any difference as you will be connecting through the same backhaul on the same line and exchange and so you shouldn't notice any difference at all.
The only thing I will say is that with regards to "faster speeds" Ours is an upto 24Mb however if your only getting "for example" 6mb now then your only going to get 6mb once you move as the line is the same.
If you put your phone number and post code in Samknows you should get an estimate speed for your line. https://www.samknows.com

Onetel have told me that they are now a closed business and not taking on any more customers therefore the max speed they can offer is up to 2mb
My E-mail server max size limit is now only 10mb so a few e-mail and my mail box is full ! !
presume this is because if you want a faster speed you have to change to Talk Talk
Talk Talk have looked at the exchange and have advise I will get approx 6.5 - 7.1mb which is a lot faster than at present :rotfl:- Same company
- faster speed
- keep e-mail address the same for all the family
- reduce cost down by approx £35-40 per month
Seem a good idea to me?2014 is the year to clear !!!

You are on an ancient 2MB capped tariff, and because there are no new OneTel tariffs available, only legacy ones, you can't upgrade to the speed that your line will support (around 7MBps).
Why is your webmail capacity an issue though? Use one of the free desktop email clients (Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird) and you can empty your webmail. And setting up a Gmail account (10 minutes work) gives you as many free ISP-independent addresses as you like.
Go to www.samknows.com and do an exchange search for the LLU options. However, if TT is LLU on your exchange then they will almost certainly be the cheapest-but that's for a reason.
Finally, remember that once your line is LLU'd to TT then you can only switch away again for no charge by going back to BT for 12m line rental. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
