Santander - Major C***-up - Poor service.

Looks as though they are saying "This is the end of the road as far as they are concerned" ......crediting your account with £25 doesn't really give you much leeway either, I would have thought they could have at least give you the chance to reject or accept it.
When I had a problem with Santander recently, I had a phone call from them within 40 minutes of sending the complaint in (via their website), and even though I told them that I will be closing my accounts with them they still sent me a hamper....
How about calling them and saying that as they have made it difficult for you to dispute their compensation (by paying it into your account already).
But you are grateful that at least the matter (hopefully) is now resolved, and instead of asking for more compensation (which they seem to make clear you are not going to get) say that you would be happy for them to make a contribution of £50 to your favorite charity.
That way then THEY are backed into a corner and you have the moral highground, if they say that's not possible.....a multibillion pound company can't donate £50....that would look nice.
Probably in your situation I would pull up stumps and walk away.
Thank you for putting this on MSE though...it at least should make people wary of these big companies and how things can go so wrong.
No probs... I hate it when someone starts a thread and then dissapears - especially when they give little or no information and just say something like X has really f***** me off, and its all their fault.
I hope in this thread that people who take the time to read it will be much wiser to the issues I and others have raised. My advice would be leave after getting your compensation, however much that may be.
We still have an ongoing complaint with them dating all the way back to August 2010.
We thought we had reached a mutually agreeable settlement, unfortunately they weren't competent enough to carry it out.
They even messed up closing our accounts down and managed to lose £50 for several months.
Our next step is the ombudsman. Not as green as I am cabbage looking0 -
Just when I thought it was safe to open my post.
My wife and I received our statements for the joint account in the post this morning. One correctly addressed to Mr ABC & Mrs DC, the other however was addressed to Mrs DC & Mrs DC.
OK, this is quite minor in the grand scheme, but it still ain't over.

It never will be. Sorry to be so negative but my sister experienced little niggles even after she thought the riddle of the missing £20,000 had been resolved. You won't be able to rest until all your accounts have been closed.
My former boss went to work with Abbey as project manager for their payments system a few years ago and warned me never to touch them "with a bargepole". Some of their systems were in an appalling mess and they had no specialist experts working on them. Sounds like they are still in the same position and that Santander have not invested much in them.0 -
I know - hence why I am moving away - but I am like a dog with a bone here, and I am not letting goNot as green as I am cabbage looking0

Cmdr_Bond I suspect that your best bet is to get the media involved. The Daily Mail love to give Santander a kicking and it seems to perhaps (one of) the most effective(s) way to get them to pull out their finger.0

I'm a 1970's grammar school girl, grammar (english and latin) was drummed into us
RE class and the lads are doing classwork with teacher wandering around. Suddenly he pounces.
"Gotcha, for months I've been looking for the boy who's been scratching 'Neil Diamond' onto the desktops, and now I've caught you".
"Not me Sir".
Pointing "What does it say here?".
"'Neil Diamond' Sir"
"And here?"
"'Neil Diamond' Sir"
"And on the desk in front of you?"
"'Neil Diamond' Sir"
"And on the front of your exercise book"
"'Neil Diamond' Sir"
"And how do you spell 'Neil'?"
30 lads promptly erupt into laughter and the criminal gets his just deserts, namely one hour detention armed with piece of sandpaper.0 -

I noticed that too... see below
I guess that could also spell "Santa" - but I don't think I want any 'presents' meted out by Satan-der. My parents are with them (used to be Alliance & Leicester and switched automatically over to The Dark Side).
My mum is far more tolerant than I am - if I'd had half the hassles that she's had with them over the last months, I think I'd be in the nearest branch swiping a debit card where no debit card should ever be swiped...0 -
Myself AND my partner have had endless issues with Santander! My issue is still ongoing...all I want is an internet ID...i've been waiting 2 months, and still they can't sort it.
My partner wasted half a morning complaining, but got 6 bottles of wine compensation...if you lose the will on the phone, and least you can drink yourself silly!
Good luck fellow Santander customers.0
