Urgent: Speed humps on private land
All,
I live on a new estate and the speedhumps here are causing issues. One of them has a 4" front face......
Recently I went over this at about 10 MPH and one of my suspension springs shattered.
I approached the sales office about this in a non aggressive manner (genuinely) and asked if they had had any feedback from other residents regarding the speedhumps and in particular the one that I had been over and I asked if they needed to be signposted (I have lived here fore 3 years and therefore know them however none of them are signposted or marked in any way)
The sales person stated 'speed humps are there for a reason, perhaps you need to slow down'.
I wrote a letter to Mark Wright (MD of DWH East Midlands). His reply today was that, as a new estate with unadopted roads they were not legally bound with regards to type and format of speed humps and that they did not even need to have them signposted.
Any legal eagles here know different??
Thanks in advance
Alex

I thought that would be the case as no council would adopt that. What about signs for 'raised iron works'?0

Nope, no signs, nil, nada, nothing'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

You have lived there for 3 years and the road is still not adopted!!
Negligence claim?0 -
Hintza, it's not even going to be adopted, NSDC wont, we have to pay a Management company £350 each to look after the green areas (of which there are many) AND we have to pay full council tax... Lucky us..'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

What car and age are we talking about?0

2002 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130. Owned it for a year, not a single noise or hint of a problem, my drive to work is totally smooth except for my estate (or the Somme as some residents call it)...'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

So the spring probably snapped due to corrosion.0

Nope, not a sign of corrosion on it, it was a clean break, the spring was sheared and all shiny. Im asking for advice here, im not after anything, just the correct legislation!'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
