I have bought a lot from them and you have to be very patient and have done your research on pricing very very carefully otherwise it is too easy to pay way over the odds.

Our fridge, our cooker, MIL fridge MIL Dryer but it took probably a week in each case to get a decent bargain.

    So bid carefully.

We are hopefully moving into our new house in three weeks, and a fridge / freezer is definitely on our shopping list, and money is tight !

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

I need a new fridge. Its a shame you cant see the closed auction prices for a guide. I think its a good post(like the thompson holiday auction website). You can always get a bargain on an auction website.

I think you have to decide what it is worth to you. I generally look for 33%+/- off the price. many will go for more and that is why you need patience.

As with EBay bid late and high don't mess around.

someone may find a bargain though...
I'm not saying they won't, what I AM saying is that nobody is going to get one for £1, it's not going to happen, not even Christmas day in a leap year with a blue moon and a lorry full of lucky charms. The post is misleading because it implies that the items will sell at £1 they don't. Perhaps if the op were to modify the thread title it may be a little less questionable, I could make hundreds of such posts a week, take morgan auctions for example everything starts at £1 on there yet I've never seen a single item sell at £1 there are many such auctions about and if each one was posted in such a manner it would make a nonsence of the site.

  • Think your playing semantics slightly there Ben500 - he obviously meant to draw attention to the auction site. I as well as others am mightily pleased with my fridge.

you can bookmark items over a period of time to get an idea of their auction value and then scout around to see if this is a good deal or not. My fridgefreezer was £80 cheaper and not a mark on it.
    Well chuffed.

Not semantics, the thread title it appears has now been changed, it originally stated that the fridges were available at £1 which clearly they are not, the new title however is more appropriate, in fact I would add that there are many many more items available on the site and I have indeed purchased from there my self, if you are willing to wait you will get a bargain, but as I pointed out the same could be said for many other auction sites that list items with a start price of £1, just about every other ebay auction for example and if each one was represented with such a post on here it would devalue the site.

I am not in any way trying to discourage the op from posting this or any other possible bargain but please lets not mislead ourselves, the fat cats of commerce are more than willing to do their own misleading without our help.

  • Sorry Ben500 guess I didn't see the original title of the post.

I do think this site has value though - at least the products come with a guarantee unlike ebay for example, which may contribute to the final value of each sale.

You did make me look at the website for Morgan auctions tho. lol

I used the site beginning of July 2008, bought a 37" LCD tv for good money compared to store prices. Connected it, it worked then decided to flick the pictures then all of a sudden no picture. Rang their tech guys, 0870 number which I wasn't happy with and spent about 3 minutes trying to sort the problem but it didn't work.

They sent me an engineer but to my horror he wrote off the tv after a few minutes. Gave me some paperwork to go 9 miles away to have it changed yet the website says no auction exchanges in stores. SO I emailed them to confirm before tracking down and they emailed back to apologise and that I would get my refund and they wanted to know if I wanted it collected. Only prob is that they still haven't replied so I don't know how it's going to go and whether I'll be losing my £29.95 for delivery for a tv that only worked 2 hours.

So my advice is don't use the website if you are not sure of what you are going to get. Mine only mentioned cosmetic stuff and nothing else but it seems there were more probs than said. They offer 12 months warranty but who would want the hassle of ringing them to sort problems you never expected after buying something good as new? Thankfully I hadn't tipped my older tv so we are back to our 20th century yet again, no LCD, no money to buy a new one and anxious on how long it's going to take to sort this out.
Please God if you can't make me rich, make my friends poor!
