mobiles.co.uk in stock item but actually not available

I ordered this mobile last Friday (mobiles.co.uk/vodafone-sony-ericsson-elm-clearance-pay-as-you-go.html)
and received an email at the weekend stating that the item was not currently in stock and would be sent when available. I emailed them about this and pointed out that the item is still showing as being in stock on their website. They replied with a standard email about the type of phone I had ordered. Still after having sent this email they are advertising the product as being 'in stock' on their website. It's possible that other people have placed an order and will find themselves in this same situation. I'm wandering if/when I will receive the mobile?

They do that a lot - AND a worse. It is 50-50 whether it will materialise. If they REALLY wanted your custom they would have called you long before now to offer you a better model instead. But then - this IS Mobiles.co..... part of CPW....

Lucky escape if you ask me :D

  • An update on this order:

I received an email from mobiles.co.uk. stating

Quote"Rest assured that we will not charge your card for out of stock items until they are back in stock and ready for despatch."

So what did they do: they charged my credit card which has just managed to get onto my latest statement!

It took me 25 minutes to get through to them on the phone and they have offered me a refund which could take 10 working days!

I'm not happy that they asked me to be 'rest assured' and then did the opposite - do I have any grounds for complaint/apology/compensation?

im not sure, but if it was me, i would make a little call to the card company for advice. After all as you have in writing, there was a unauthorised transaction.
