It`s a lovely part of Cornwall that you are staying in and I`m sure you will find plenty to do and have a great holiday.
Just had a look at the website and the cottages look really nice.
Just remember to pack a picnic everyday and then go and explore. We had some lovely holidays doing this when my children were small.

I would think it would be suitable dor you. It has a double bedroom, twin bedroom and bunk bedroom with a cot I think so can't see why it wouldn't suit you as long as you feel your children are old enough to go in bunk beds.

yes the two youngest are in bunks at mo, although i find went we go on holiday they all love to sleep in one bed together .

showed this to hubby and he is very keen. i've saved the site, think we've def found our holiday location for this year. Bit further down than we normally go ( we come from i.o.w) , but will be nice visiting places down there. hopefully we can find a zoo or horse place.
  • There is Newquay Zoo although it's a little drive from Boscastle and we didn't go there when we went to Cornwall a couple of years ago as I thought it was quite expensive. Not sure if we will go this time. I'm sure my children would love it but not sure if they are old enough to have to pay to go in so now it will be even more expensive!

oohh thanks i will have a look at that. we've been to paignton zoo last yr, marwell yr before and longleat yr before that. my children absolutly love zoo's. i know they can be expensive, but i reaslie it does cost alot to look after the animals in good conditions.

for us we'd prefer to go to 2 or 3 excellent places in a week for than 7 okish places.

what a deal you are so lucky! I am looking at the mo but can't find anything for August under £1500 and we want to take our two dogs. How did you find it, did you do a google search? I have tried Hoseasons and cottages 4 u but there must be some other way

  • Emmilou if you Google for Tourist Information Centres in Cornwall you should be able to get them to send you a Brochure for Cornwall for 2011 and in there you should find lots of lists and photos of various accomadation on offer, ranging from Hotels,Guest Houses,Camping sites etc.

We found though that a lot of cottages didn't take dogs,or smokers and as we had a dog and my hubby was a pipe smoker at the time in the end we got ourselves a small caravan{We had been campers for 20 years before trying cottages}and have not looked back.

If you also Google dog friendly Accomadation in Cornwall you should find info on establishments that take dogs but they will probably charge for keeping them.Evensome of the commercial campsites charge for taking pets now

The one problem we find with most accomadation whether it be camping or the others that depending on what time of the year you take your holiday depends on what weekly rate you will get charged but then you probably are aware of that.

I keep telling my hubby with the financial climate as it is at the moment in this country you would think the holiday rental buisnesses would drop their prices, then they would have people queing at their front door to stay with them as we think £500+ for a weeks holiday in this country a bit expensive especially when it goes up so much when the kids are on holiday...

Most tourist places throughout the country have an online website which will often have private holiday accom lets. Google the name of the place and online, eg http://www.newquay-online.co.uk/

Taliwillow i`ve just had a nosy and it looks lovely.

We used to have trouble finding anywhere that would accept us with our two dogs without charging the earth.

We found this place http://www.highfieldlodge.co.uk/ a few years ago and have been every year since (sometimes twice per year)

We`ve stayed in both the SC flat and the hotel and can highly recommend it. Taking dogs is free and they actually stay in your room with you in the hotel. Its a very nice place to stay and is two minutes walk from Crantock village and about 7 mins walk to the beach. Even better the pubs etc are dog friendly in the village, i remember our very first trip there years ago and i popped my head around the door to ask if dogs were allowed in and there were 5 in there already :rotfl:

    Hope this helps someone.

  • Emmilou - I have spent a lot of time doing different searches on google for cottages. I know roughly what areas I like so do searches like 'Holiday cottages Trebarwith Strand' or 'Holiday cottages Boscastle' and that seems to be how I find them. I also look at welcome cottages, cottages4you, independentcottages and sykescottages.
