Internet Scam

My mum had a phone call today from a company calling themselves AMMYY. They asked her to go to her new computer and put in certain things to check for any viruses. As my mum is quite elderly and has only just joined the world on computers she obviously did as she was asked.
However she asked them for a phone number to call back as they were saying that there were over 300 viruses on the laptop and she would have to pay £90 to get them off!! Thankfully she didnt give them any money or bank details etc.
I rang the phone number they gave which was 0800 2061133. When I rang this number it was obviously a mobile phone and an Indian guy answered. I could hear alot of other indian males in the background having the same conversation as me.
I asked him who he was and the name of the company he was calling from. He mumbled something like "I am your administrator". When I challenged him, he mumbled again regarding being the administrator of my mums computer. When I asked him what he was ringing for he starting giving me a load of rubbish about viruses etc. I then told him in no uncertain terms not to call my mum again. This is obviously a scam and after getting home and speaking to my mum and checking on the computer this is happening quite alot...
My question is How do I go about reporting these b%&*ards!!! as obviously they must be scamming alot of unwilling people out of alot of money. Is there a government agency who I can report this too. Is there any way of tracing the phone number.
If I could get my hands on these low life.. there wouldnt be much left of them to punch buttons into a phone. They make me sick.. I am sooo angry.. and I would love to know where they are as I would be round there with a very sharp stick!!!!! lol
Any help guys would be appreciated.
