ADVICE PLEASE!!!no internet or phone line due to accident

p.s Sorry before i start as this is a long post!

Any advice would really help me!!

Last week on wednesday evening there was an accident outside our house resulting in a car crashing through a telegraph pole, thus the fire brigade had to cut the line, leaving us with no phone line or internet.

6 days later...

My problem is i cannot afford to top up my mobile phone and have had to travel 8 miles to use my friends landline to ask b.t last firdaywhen i will get my phone line back..
They do not know and i even tried to get hold of open reach as clearly a new telegraph pole is needed.they too were based in India to my surprise as this is for emergency, i though would be treated in a U.K call centre..

My other problem is a lot of my partners work is needing internet access, and ultimately results in his wage at the end of the month if he has no access he has no possible client enquiries...

My phone is with B.T and my internet with AOL.

What should i do as i am paying aol and have no service, and having rental charges from b.t and still have no service?

To make it worse, this happened 3 years ago and it took 6 weeks to get my service back because we live on a secluded but fast road and it takes longer because traffic lights need to be put up which is appranetly down to the council..

I feel very upset and trapped, with no outside connection to anyone and desperately need internet access, i cannot afford lots of petrol to go to friends evrey day.

is there something i could claim or stop my internet or phone rental fees whilst i have nothing?

please help!!!!

not a great deal you could claim i expect, however i would say that you would be entitled to the line rental for the period you are off supply to be paid back.

You'll get a credit for the time you were without service. When you reported it, BT should have offered you a divert to your mobile no, this is normal practice.
You won't get any credit for lost income, as presumably you are on a residential tariff which is being used for business purposes?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Can you ask a neighbour to borrow their wifi? If not a mobile dongle seems a good idea for temp internet.

If the telegraph pole is down its likely his neighbours connections will be down as well!!
