Vodaphone contract/Network down

My Voda phone network has been down now for 6 days,as I have limited mobiliyty I need a phone 24/7.Whwn I spoke to vodaphone they said that there providers for my area were in Eygpt and even though they new that there was and is a network problem in my area they did not know how long it would take to fix.I asked if I could cancel as I was not happy about not getting a service iam paying for they said no as I was under contract for another year and they would give me back my line rental at £1.15 a day whilst I couldnt use the service,Does anyone know my rights on this as I am hitting my head against a brick wall,Thanks Caroline

You cannot cancel for the network being down in one area, Vodafone are a mobile communication and not a fixed line company and are still providing a service outside the affected area.

Vodafone do not own the land where there is the network fault, and are subject to getting approval from the landlord to access the site.

Surely any lease/rental agreement on the land would include an open access clause for their engineers, though. If networks didn't do this then it could lead to all kinds of difficulties.

I have since been told by a Vodaphone manager that the line could be down for 3 months as they believe this then becomes an unacceptable time limit,What a con!!!!!!
