Claiming Expenses for Hospital Outpatient Treatment

Right. I have spoken with my local hospital this afternoon and asked them the following question.
'I have a free bus pass, yet I travel to hospital by car because I find it more convenient and quicker
They (as mentioned in a previous post of mine) won't pay you on that basis. Different if your question was "...I travel by car because I can't manage on public due to..."Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Just an update - been to hosp today and found the office - no-one asked if we had used public transprt etc. Just said I'd come to claim expenses and showed her the paperwork. She asked if I'd paid parking of £1 and I said yes - but I didn't have the ticket for the previous visit.
So I was given £10.35 (which included £1 parking for today).
So its £9.35 for two journeys and we live about 20 miles from hosp. So £4.67 a trip.
Lady didn't ask mileage as she had her own table and when I said about the mileage rate for forms she said not to bother with that as they'd fill it in themselves.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -

I know you can't have patient transport in our area if you receive DLA mobility payments.
My husband gets taken by private car to his hospital appointments and me as well as they have assessed that he needs me with him.
He receives AA and this is OK as there is no mobility element.
I would have thought that the mobility element of DLA should cover hospital visits.0 -
I spoke to the cash office and got told that unless there's a reason, (letter from GP is needed) they will only pay the cheapest fare. So it looks for me, I'm going to have to get a letter stating that I struggle with public transport in the dark (there's also a main road or two to cross) - apparently, lack of public transport in the evening (they claim this doesn't exist - I do) isn't reason enough to pay for taxis.
Isn't your mobility DLA supposed to pay for this? A bit naughty to claim more money.0 -

No its not naughty to claim what you are entitled to claim for...... You have to be on IS to get transport costs paid for its got nothing to do with DLA........0 -
