Sky Package reduction needed

Hi

I was hoping someone can help us save a bit of money please.

We currently pay £33 a month for Sky which includes :

1 Sky + box
1 Multiroom Subscription

And the Variety 5 mix Subscription which comprises of :

Variety Pack
Childrens Pack
Style & Culture Pack
Music Pack

We want to cut back as much where we can but without losing out if thats possible. We dont mind spending one off costs for a few things to allow us to do this and save in the long run. We also find we seem to watch the same channels more than often but were not sure which ' selection box or boxes ' they come under in the 5 pack.

Theres only me and my hubby in our small bungalow so we dont really need Multiroom, just the ability to watch where we like wheather thats in the TV room, the dining room or the bedroom so if theres an easier way (eg video sender or TV link) then we can set that up.

We were actualy considering getting a Freeview Box (or FreeSat) in the bedroom as we dont often watch TV in there anyway, the reason we got Multiroom in there was so we could watch Sky in the dining room (which is in the conservatry next to the bedroom) so at the time it was easier to set up this way.

We don't have access to cable where we live :( So cant go over to Virgin. I was considering BT Vision but its a lot of hassle to swap as our phoneline is currently with Tesco (including line rental) and so is our BroadBand with Tesco (mainly so we can earn clubcard points to help with shopping and other deals etc as it works well for us).

Anyway I think I have explained everything so hopefully some of you more knowledgeable people can advise us now ?

Thanks in advance ! :)

    Hi,

Why don't you look at the freesat.co.uk website .... it will tell you what channels are available .... if you buy a freesat box (cheapest £30 from Argos) you should be able get rid of your sky box & just replace with the freesat box.

If your going to go down the freesat route, just cancel sky. The sky box then becomes a freesat box (albeit freesat from sky).
  • Had a look at the FreeSat website but the channels they list dont include any of the ones we actualy watch, most of them arnt worth watching either by the looks of their content !

Maybe I will just get rid of the Multiroom and find another way to link the 1 box to the other 2 TV's (like the video sender or TV link).

    Thanks so far though :)

TV Link works well, you just need a coax cable from your main Sky box to the remote TV. I use one myself.
    ......and you'll save £10/month.

I use the one from Global.

  • Ok thanks I will look at the TV link.

Can someone tell me how I would link the Sky+ box to an additional 2 TV's so I can get rid of the Multiroom 2nd sky box?

Sorry I cant figure it out :o

Also if we were wanting to re-connect the multiroom box every now and again (say when Mum comes to stay and takes over the main TV) would it be possible to do it for just that month for the extra £10 ? Weve been with Sky for 11 years now and at this property about 5 of them so well out of our 12 month contract!

    Thanks again :)

If you cease the multiroom sub then you will get freesat from Sky on that box, no need to disconnect it.

A Sky box will power two TV links you just need to buy two and split the feed, you use the RF2 output on the main Sky box to power the tv links.

Sounds complicated but sure I will figure it out somehow. Thanks :)
