BT's FAIR USAGE POLICY FOR BROADBAND

We have a rental cottage and incurred three occasions in 12 months where we have exceeded the 10GB download limit for BT Broadband Option 1. According to their FAQ's BT should be emailing you when you have reached 75% usage and then again just before you exceed the amount but no such emails have been received.
What is members experience and is there any way we can claim that money back because they have failed to notify which they state in their terms and conditions.
Many thanks
Rob

Better to monitor your own usage using one of the many free measuring programs available. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You won't get your money back from BT for the over usage but in a rental property you are mad not having unlimited usage. You can get BT option 3 for £10 a month. see the BT thread. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

There is a good chance that the emails were sent but not to the email address you use (even if that is set in your BT preferences). It could also have gone to the spam folder.0

Thanks for that, the use of the excess was by us, ( unwittingly ) and not visitors to our cottage. Our point is that these emails do not seem to be being sent, and have not been received by the primary or indeed secondary email address. It may be that we cannot claim back but now seem to have no choice but to upgrade to an unlimited access tariff. Its amazing ho easy it is to use more than your 10GB limit, and thats not even with our cottage tenants using it.
Thanks for the tips, we are now using rackeys.com monitor.0
