Tues 1st February - What small DFW things will you/have you done today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Well folks - am up at silly o'clock cos was so tired yesterday crashed @ 7.30pm. However my wisdom of getting a lot done before I go out to sewing class @ 8.30am has been short lived cos I just bid on some card blanks on ebay - only the cost of them was £10 inc p+p for 50  only to find them on amazon @ 6.49 for 50
Woe is me...
I'm debating doing my card making as a wee work from home business for a little extra money cos whilst my cards aren't flash (no ribbon) people really like them and everyone loved my new year cards that I made the other month....:A
So yeah busy am as you can see from below for me and I still have Ma's stuff to parcel all before 6.30am so best get my skates on though I supposed if push comes to shove I can parcel it after lunch and post later on...
Really looking forward to my car boot sale on Thursday and pray I make enough to cover the -£12 I now have on the spreadsheet this week cos I padded £55 last night
- or else T & G don't cash their cheque this week...One or t'other...
Anyhow - here is my mini agenda for today...aiming if I can to have 5 NSD's this week...if not 4 would be okay. Budget is pretty tight and as yet there's no menu plan  but just getting the basic staples in...
PS...just noticed sewing class is not below for which I have to leave just before 8.30 and leave early to get to Dr. C ....sorry guys

Morning Erme, thanks for starting off the thread
My list for today is:-
- Charge phone at work
- Take lunch from home (left over chilli and pitta bread)
- Free tea at work
- Check banking done - no surprises
- Check Surveys
- Need to sort out the other parking ticket
- Try and find the receipt for my eye test so that I can claim the money back from work.
- Collect my prescription that I forgot yesterday
Oh yes and I need to celebrate the fact that I didn't need to dip into my 'cushion' money. The £500 I keep in a savings account with my bank so that I can dip in and out of it as needed each month. I think that's the first time that's happened for ages.
Can't think of anything else. Will have to try and have a quieter day today as I'm feeling tired. If I'm not careful I won't have the energy to go to salsa tonight and I want to go - need a bit of exercise.
Have a good one all.0 -
Goooood morning - another cheery one here:j:j

Ooooh, forgot to tell you something. The renewal letter came yesterday for our breakdown cover. I'd budgetted for a 10% increase, but it's actually gone DOWN by 4.5%!! It may only be 49p but it's one of those *small things* that this thread is all about. :beer:Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. I have got to phone the tax credits people today. After my lightbulb moment on Jan 5th I was great about ringing up to get the form, but because our situation is complex I can't fill it in...and I seem to have a terrible mental block when it comes to phoning up. It stresses me so much it paralyses me and I can't do it. Every day I leave it, I am losing more than £10...I can't afford to do that! I really want today to be the day I finally do it! Anyone have any tips on overcoming fear of doing things like this?0

Hi folks :hello:
Bit of a weird day so far...
Got up all excited that my cc would be under £2k today but just checked it and the direct debit says it's due tomorrow... I always pay on the 1st and today isn't a special day so wonder why it's now coming out on the 2nd... Can't really be bothered getting touch to find out why either... but anyway, celebrations tomorrow...
To add to the weirdness I'm wearing a top that used to be white and a cardi that used to be pink... Looks a bit scruffy so going to wear a nice bright pashmina over the top, put on my fave war paint (benefit play stick in tea party with body shop bronzer swirl thingy) and spritz my fave perfume (chloe atm...)
Found some lunch for work - spicy fruity cous cous
Have a new desk calendar I got for half price so that will brighten up my desk
Will post e bay parcel; listed something else
Finishing my knitting with something else I ripped out - 'tis all about priorities, right?
Left work early yesterday so now got time I need to make up so catch up later...
