  • As you can see the calculator is showing American style dates, don't worry about it at the moment as they will all be the same.
  • Having inputted all my charges into the interest calculator my total charge value is £1140. In the interest column a figure of £-718.68 is displayed and in the total column a figure of £421.32 is displayed. Please could you advise me if I am claiming interest back in my letter, am I claiming the £-718.68 or the £421.32?? Regards
  • Having inputted all my charges into the interest calculator from this website on my local library computer my total charge value is £1140. In the interest column a figure of £-718.68 is displayed and in the total column a figure of £421.32 is displayed. However, when I got home, I re-entered the same details into the website calculator again onto my home PC and got totally different figures! This time there were no figures with a - in front of them and the figures were totally different. Please can someone enter the following details into the calculator and see what figure you come back with just so I know what table of charges to go off please:

£30 on 03/01/07. Martins calculator on the library PC comes out as Interest column £-24.03 and Total column as £5.97, but on my home PC Martins calculator comes out as Interest £0.2 and the total column as £30.2??

Once that question is answered, can you then let me know when Im claiming interest, I am adding the Interest column onto my Charge Value column or the Total column onto my Charge value Column???

    Regards
  • I just swapped the day and and month around when I filled it out.

It was then UK date sequence when I printed it out.

However, I think it may have reduced interest as I did a check both the US date format and the UK format and had two different interest calculations.

It was minor pennies for me except for the £110 direct debit charge..

Then I am just a pawn in lifes big game of chess..not a mathmatics specialist.

  • Hi folks,

Just to triple emphasise the answers already on this thread, the fact that the sheet shows the American system of date DOES NOT make a difference to the actual answer outputted; that will remain correct.

If you are worried about sending in the sheet like this, simply click Print, then Copy and Paste that table into a word processor program. That will allow you to edit the date to the UK format.

    Cheers,

    Hi everyone.

Is anyone else having a problem with this on the website? When I type in the details....ie: the date it puts the month in the day column and the day in the month.....?

so for example if you put in..... 11th feb 2000 the date then shown is 2nd november 2000......
I moved here from Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) in 1980. I went to Borrowdale Primary School.

The format is date month year, when it goes to the list it goes month date year.

Others must have surely seen it,we are in the UK ;) and it goes to an American format.
