No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge

Having a rubbish day. About 10 days ago found out my OH's (for 4+ years) parents arranged his marriage. And it wasn't to me. So his family are old-fashioned/narrow-minded/whatever you want to call it. He won't go against them. So I'm very much
So to distract myself I've decided to plan my spending (and limit it!) Sorry for the rant btw
Oh Sawan, I am so sorry! I don't think anyone would begrudge you a few treats or a really much more substantial rant if you need one!
What a lousy thing to do to someone - he should have stood up to them! :mad:Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

It was basically that. I don't know. So it's the alternating between all the emotions under the sun, and trying to control them. I think it hurts even more because he didn't say goodbye. I know he really loved me. My best friend thinks that's why he didn't say goodbye, because he wouldn't be able to. He used to say we should elope, but I always said no, because though my family wld eventually forgive me and come round, his never wld. That came round & bit me in the b**kside, didn't it
Got to focus on all the possible glitches. And the lovely EL GWP. I can do thisOh, and the no buying toiletries challenge :A

Ohh Sawan I feel for you, it happened to a really close friend of mine a couple of years ago so I really do offer hugs, tea, chocolate and sympathy!! :grouphug: ignore the dodgy overtones of the hugging smilie, the intention is innocent
Ohh and let me know how Bella Bamba isI tried it in NY and have resisted all this time against buying it but I think I may give in - I hope my memories of it are all sugarcoated and it's not as good as I remember... :A

Use it to buy one of the medium gift sets (£20) and 4 shower gls (£10) so getting 5 shower gels, a BB, a scrub, a soap and a shower puff for my £12 OR
Hang onto it until one of the BS's frequent sales, with the knowledge that I MIGHT get a better deal then, but, if not, the other deal is still there anyhow.
Honestly, I don't *need* any of the above right now, but I do know from the challenge that the BS shower gels are pretty much up there as a HG product, and I would probably buy those in due course on the 4 for £10 deal anyway, thus meaning that the rest of the gubbins would only really be costing me £2, plus I get the LYB card for nothing which will give me the free gift in my birthday month as another free "in".
So - the questions are:
a) Can I justify it? and
b) Which way should I go with purchasing, do you think?
c) Am I the only one to have been running this whole sorry dilemma through my head pretty much ALL morning?! :rotfl:
Oooh I'm glad I'm not alone with these dilemnas. My halo has come crashing around my ankles - my sister asked me to get her one and then I found out I get 10% cashback through a work website and then my hand accidentally ordered 2!!! And I already know what I'm getting - been desperate to get the tangerine stuff, whoopee! Just doubled my Feb spend! Ah well, once my gardening grabbit arrives, that may get me out and about more and away from the spendernet!! I do suffer from low moods in Feb so if this cheers me up, what da heck...and yes I did use my credit card....bad bad bad....move along naughty step....am NOT going to confess to the BF...!!:rotfl:
Sawan - this happened to a girl I used to work with. Shortly after he got engaged to the arranged woman he started seeing her again behind the other girls back. It ripped her apart all over again because he was still getting married to the other girl. So please don't be tempted back to him - therein lies many more heartaches....Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Oh Sawan, I'm really sorry.
Nothing to add to everyone else's very sensible advice but have a hug from me.

Sawan, poor you, you'll be better off in the long run, his family will probably run his life for him.
I have resisted the groupon voucher, £12 is £12 and I don't need £30 more stuff. :money:The devil makes works for idle hands0 -

I agree with a previous comment, don't go back to him especially don't have an affair that would not be good for you.Am also sorry for the poor girl he has to marry, she may not fancy him and they could end up very unhappy seems like a no win situation all round.hope you are still young enough to recover and make a fresh start and remember the silver lining........you won't have the inlaws from hell to cope with:rotfl:0 -

See that's the thing. They live in Pakistan, and although my grandparents/great-grandparents were from there, my parents were born in Africa and have a very different outlook on life. They would never dream of forcing me to marry someone. Actually, even their parents never did that. That was always one of our worries, how different our families were. I thought they liked me thoughArranged marriage never bothered me, til I met him anyway.
He's working in Canada for 2 years now, so an affair won't happen either. But I am hoping he sees sense and tells his parents it's not what he wants. Not (just) for me, but for himself. Stupid boy thinks he doesn't want to ruin this other girls life. I said he'll be ruining not just hers but ours too by marrying her when he doesn't want to. And the vindictive part of me (does everyone have one or just me?) hope she's awful for him & his parents. Is that very mean of me?
As for in-laws from hell - I could make them come round - I can be quite charming when I want to beA bottle of S&G body butter here, a glitched aftershave there
And thank you all so much for your support - I can't say how much I appreciate it. It was all too much for me on my mind this afternoon, and I started crying at work (never good) and you all helped me through it. I'm back on my bike (and hoping I don't fall off again for a good few days at least!) So huge *hugs* to you all :beer:No buying unnecessary toiletries/makeup in May: Unnecessary spend £17.60

?
No honey, we all have a vindictive part. You would have to be a complete saint to sit there and wholeheartedly wish him pure happiness at this stage. Maybe in a few months you'll feel able to just shake your head and hope he is getting on alright, but considering the circumstances, you're doing well to not be making up voodoo dolls.
Slightly worrying group hug for you from us :grouphug: The sentiment is right, but the emoticon is so very, very wrong. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
