Hi
This is a query about my dad who is 64 now and receiving the guarantee element of pension credit amounting to around £80 per week. He also gets lowest rate care and mobility dla. Because he gets guarantee credit, he also gets full housing benefit and council tax benefit.
His state pension is due to start in a few months time and the forecast indicates that he will get about £130 per week state pension and added to his savings, this will take him over the guarantee credit threshold. My understanding is that once the state pension starts, he will no longer be entitled to guarantee credit, but may get some savings credit.
Does this mean that he will no longer be entitled to any housing benefit and council tax benefit?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this.
Cheers

he could be entitled to some form of housing and council benefit, they will look at what he is receiving and include the savings credit element in the calculation and work it from there0
