    You are eligible for UK citizenship and residency since you are here for so long. After applying and being successful, put your name on the voters roll. :o

    Yeah, not being on the voters roll caused me no issues getting my Aqua card first, then Lloyds TSB card.

    Sure it isn't something else?

    I think it's the lack of history.

    OP would be well advised to take out an Aqua card and perhaps another one of either Vanquis or Capital One Classic.

    Once he's run those well for 18 months mainstream lenders would be much happier giving him a card.
