If you look at the bill you will be able to confirm this.

A refund and goodwill gesture is required!
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Totally agree with penrhyn here, this is not just a case of getting the bill down to what it should have been all the time, like you have intimated this has caused needless suffering to your parents and BG should at least give a goodwill gesture by way of further apology. I personally would write to the CEO's office and outline the stress this has caused. What's to lose? 20 mins writing a letter and 40p for a stamp.
  • Not long off the phone with BG. The serial number of the meter they had was different to my parents, and they were being billed in Imperial.

They have told my father that someone will contact him within 28 days to confirm how much they owe him.

He has told them that he is very unhappy, but I think I will try and persuade him to put it in writing, as they have been living in fear since the bill came in at the end of December, and have been taking hot water bottles to bed.

Just found out from my mother as well, that she rang the homecare line just after new year to fix a problem, and they told her that the closest date they had was over 20 days away! after a week she called a plumber to fix it.

Very annoyed at BG at the moment, but love my fellow money savers more than ever.

Thanks again, 2 pensioners can now start defrosting.

    Thanks again guys

Am over my parents now and it has an M3 on the front. It is 6 digits the actual readings were 006880 and 007760

It looks like they must be billing in imperial. My father has been having sleepness nights about this, as they have taken the cash via DD

    I can't thankyou all enough

Get them to call / go into bank and invoke the DD guarantee and "suck back" the money from BG, then await the correct bill

  • I have mentioned that to him, but he wont do it. He is more than happy with the fact they have admitted that there is something wrong, and that is a weight off his mind.

I'm glad it is on it's way to being sorted.

More importantly I'm glad that your parents have you to help them with these situations, just think how many people out there don't have someone to help and just pay up.

28 days is a ridiculous amount of time for BG to sort this out.

Please go back over you parents bill and do your own calculations so that when the revised bill comes in you know whether it is correct.

At a guess the 28 days is because the industry is not updated with the meter exchange. If this needs to be queried , because of the other companies involved, 28 days is usually the timescale given.

Glad to hear the solution has been found.

Push them to speed the process up for the refund as they took your parents money quickly enough. Let us know how you get on.

I agree push them to refund, however someone people flowers would mean more than money just a suggestion
