  • In the first instance ask the PPTC. If your child took their test then the principal of the school will be a member. R. Hazzard of Ballymena Academy seems to be their spokesperson. The test is run by GL Assessment (while formerly Nfer-Nelson). It is my understanding that they have no expertise in the matter since they inherited the bank of questions used in the multiple choice exams. No doubt the principal will tell you (s)he will pass your request on to PPTC. After some delay they will tell you that it is GLA who are responsible and after further delay you may be given an answer of sorts. Good luck with your quest.
Of course the absence of a specification for the PPTC test last year was another obvious concern but was not addressed by parents so anxious to do the right hing for their children. Tests should never be offered or taken unless an exacting specification of what is covered is made available. It makes common sense. CCEAs 11-plus had a 32 page specification for example. Once you start looking at detailed and complicated areas such as boundary marks real expertise is required from the body setting the test. Instead of depending on schools and so-called informed sources for info about something they clearly do not nderstand because if they did they would not have offered the test. PPTC are hiding behind GLA who are hiding behind the reputation of Nfer. Let's see how many concerned parents take up the quest to discover the methodology for determining the "grade" boundaries.:T:T:T:T:T:T
  • Grade boundaries for GL appear to be
    Grades A B1 B2 C1 C2 D
    Boundary* 235 230 225 220 213 138
according to the website for Ballymena Academy. Sorry, can't post the link :(

No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere
  • Its funny how Mr Chambers has reappeared this year again!!!:mad:
If u look he only has 7 posts - the others were on the AQE thread for last year and if I remember rightly he had a huge wooden spoon then too - My advice - ignore him!!!

One of those things that lives under the bridge that the Billy Goats Gruff trot trot trotted over!!! ;)

The troll has been reported to Abuse. He originally posted as PaceNI and tried to turn last year's AQE thread into a political debate bullying parents. When he was banned for breaching the forum rules he re-joined as Tarquin GL and tried to stir things up again only stopping when he was rumbled.

It seems he's trying yet again in yet another guise. His real name is Steve and he's posts the same politics all over the internet. You'll find his comments on Slugger, Belfast telegraph, BBC etc. His real problem is that bullying aggressive style is impossible to disguise regardless of what he calls himself.
  • Hello everyone new too the site!!!

My son did the two exams he got a 223/C1 and he got 91 in his other test we are confused?? I know this puts him in Band D but is his score a C as we dont understand it! We had loads of tears yesterday from him i was pleased with his results but My son said he thought he would of done better

    Thanks
  • I think this forum is great. There is so little specific info out there it is hard to know where you are. Except for you guys that give support to all of us newbies. My daughter got 104 which means nothing to me except blind hope its enough.. Our education minister needs sacked for changing us out of a very kind and fair 11+. Imagine a democracy where you knew the number of votes you got but have no idea whether that gets you into power! Maybe that's the point!
  • To all those anxious about the gap in information on unregulated tests.....

Remember the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue... a recent Guardian article “doffed its cap” to this forum as being the one place where consumers can collect together and fight back, our job is to help keep it that way.

Now the individual who posted about Martin Chambers, Tarquin GL and Paceni must understand libel law.

  • what is your problem?
do you have a child who has sat the AQE or GL test?
from my point of view this is a support forum for all parents who are going through this education nightmare. I dont think you are qualified or required to lecture us here. :j:(
  • Hello sorry for all the questions
My son is 1 mark of a B2 so we are thinking of getting his test remarked if his grade goes up it will be good but if it goes down he will still have his C1!!
Would you get your childrens remarked??
