MY PC how much to sell?

toying with the idea of selling my PC.

its not your NORMAL PC as in bought from PC world.

the specs.

jeantech unicorn gaming full atx case modded with red/green led fans with speed control.

mobo asus p5q. p45.

processor intel core E7400 2 duo 2.8ghz OC 3.5ghz with a thermaltake duo orb heatsink keeping it really cool.

memory. 4GB kingston hyperX gaming memory ddr2 @ 1066.
4GB Ocz XMS2 gaming memory DDR2 @ 1066.

graphics XfX Nvidia geforce 9800GTX XXX (overclocked out of the box)

harddrive: western digital 500GB 7500RPM
maxtor HDD 160GB 10.000RPM.

wireless pci card: tp link wnxxxn V2.

dvd drive: sony dvdrw drive.

psu hyper typeM 580watt.

windows 7 ultimate edition (genuine).

accessories.

32' samsung HDTV 720p ready tv. connected via HDMI-DVI coverter.

ocz vanquisher gaming mouse high dpi selectable settings.

microsoft curve keybourd.

microphone.

2.1 surround sound.

system was built by myself. and cost me a fair price but if i bought an equivelant spec would have cost me £1850 in just the tower:eek: so hence why i built one.

i'm getting the ich to go one better this time round, water cooling and tri SLI with a hexacore processor. to go hexacore is a min of £600. so was toying with the idea of selling current pc in order to fund the new processor.

an independant pc shop offered me £259 the lot and had a smile on his face thinking i'd accept that. WRONG!!! i know its worth more but how much more. so if the time comes and i decide to sell i know how much to let go for.

Is this a "look at this baby" post thinly veiled as if you were genuinely going to sell it? If it is then yep, that's a great spec. If it's a genuine question and you really are wanting to sell it then you're either needing a serious power PC for some specific reason and are prepared to lose a lot of money getting it or more likely you just want to extend your EPeni
    >s as much as possible.

Either be prepared to lose a lot of wonga getting that huge EPenis or be happy with what you have, even my lowly mobile phone can make posts here and it's neither water-cooled nor sports the latest Intel E7 chip. :)

I presume when you say you're going hexacore you mean a Phenom II X6 processor.
You'd be better to wait for the AMD Buldozer X6 and X8 processors in a few months, then upgrade the motherboard processor and ram and keep the rest of the system.
You can always sell the old parts on ebay but as others have said second hand computer parts aren't worth much.
  • you're gonna need a monitor, the OS and all the peripherals, so why sell those?
Rest of the system...the PC itself, I build a q6600 based machine around Xmas, very similar specs (9800gtx @ 810, 4gb tracer etc..) for a couple of hundred quid..so I'd put its value around there, maybe £250 - and yeah, it's disheartening 'cos mine cost a lot more than that 3 years ago (q9300), but it's still a great PC :)
    save up, wait for 'dozer

erm... just built a quadcore/ssd/raid6g/usb3 rig for £400 (not inc. case), so I would have bitten the hand off someone trying to buy this off me for £259... heck my old computer had similar specs to this and it's in pieces in the loft.
A second hand PC is not aiming at someone who wants it for gaming... target market middle-aged poor, but relatively tech-savvy family, or pressie for a son/daughter... all the "look at this baby" (lol) specs will mean nothing... its the price that matters.

I'd say £250 is on the upper end of what you'd be lucky to get for it. Only way I see you nudging that up slightly is selling parts separately on ebay but expect a hefty markdown due to them being 2nd hand and could go at any point.

As higher end parts tend to have longer warranties that may support some value but clutching at straws a bit. There is really very little value in 2nd hand PCs sold as a complete unit. Best way to maximise value from it would be to re-use as much as you can when you upgrade.

to be honest you really wont get much more for that system

most parts are either really cheap to buy new or 3 generations out of date,

to be honest i built something like that roughly 3 years ago for £600 ok not including the monitor/tv which to be honest at only 720p res is not really high, or gaming mouse but really those will not make much of a difference to a second hand buyer

selling it all in probably £300 at the most - and thats mostly paying for windows 7 ultimate (assuming its retail and not OEM) and the gaming mouse
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
  • i do alot of demanding processes. play the odd game etc.

Out of curiosity, what processes are demanding enough to require a 6 Core Processor and 3 Graphics Cards?
