1 - It's not a fine, only the courts, councils & police have the power to fine someone
2 - Ignore, ignore & ignore some more

Your partner probably did the biggest crime in the world and parked one day and the CPS pass fell into the foot-well.

Maybe all the other letters in the chain got lost in the post.

There are always loads of threads about these scumbags on the board, here are the current threads:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Look at the stickies at the top, by Crabman, read them carefully. You will find pics of the Roxburghe/Graham White standard (computer-generated) letter-chain. You will find another sticky thread with a link to Watchdog's legal advice on this generic scam. Watch it and show your partner, it's easy to ignore the letters when you see this for what it really is!

It is NOT a fine. It is NOTHING. Ignoring this 'claim' will not affect his credit rating and will not end up in Court, you will see from the letter-chain exactly what should arrive next. If you get any phone calls tell them to cease contact as the alleged debt is denied, and that any further phone calls at all will constitute harassment.

Ignore them, don't even be tempted to "appeal", all you will do is give them encouragement to bombard you with letters and the whole "appeal" is a sham.

Being a worrier i had to call to stop these letters- so i called CPS who apparently put the ticket on the car.

They said it was from September 2010 and there was no parking permit displayed.

I asked them to email me the original ticket which his reply was "we are a green company so transfer tickets to a database and recycle the tickets. I replied the original ticket is your proof- a database isnt proof as he displays the ticket in the exact same place and never moves it- his reply was "well were you there- do you know for sure?" to which i replied- "were you?" and told him to send photo evidene or the original ticket to which he said hed contact the patrol officer and get bak to me in 3 minutes- that was an hour ago!

All the advice on MSE is to ignore them.

You started a thread here to ask for advice.

No-one remonstrated with you about not searching before starting a thread on an existing topic.

Instead everyone took the trouble to post and urged you to ignore!

Unfortunately I think you will find that will have the opposite effect!

I believe you have made the mistake of believing these people work in an ethical manner.

They now know they have live bait. They know you are worried. They will send more letters and apply more pressure. They have no proof you owe them, they have admitted to disposing of it.

Ignore and live a happy life.

Oh noooooo, why would you do that?? It was the worst thing to do, we all gave you links to read which would have told you exactly what to do - and contacting any PPC scammer is a big no-no.

Your phone contact will not stop the letters and they have now engaged you in a conversation where you didn't even deny being there (so they now know you were driving). They will also now have your phone number and they know you are (sorry to say) gullible as you seem to think their 'fine' and 'ticket' is real - what were you thinking? They will have your card marked for extra harassment now!

Now you will get all the letters AND some phone calls. Please read those links, calm down and be ready, all is not lost. Car Park Solutions are not a firm ever known to take anyone to Court, they just pretend they will. It's all a pretence, there is no fine, you should NOT be taking this seriously!

    Look, it's REALLY simple:

You ignore the letters. It's a scam, did you not understand the links or not click on them & read them?

You tell them to stop harassing you if they phone. Do not ever call them again, please.

Oh and if you end up paying this BOGUS FINE 'because you are a worrier' can I ask, pleeease, that you don't update this thread to tell us - or I will scream and so will many other regulars, even the blokes!
