Travel insurance for sharm!!

Hi

We are due to go to Sharm El Sheikh in 4 weeks. The holiday is booked but just found out our Annual Insurance runs out the week before! Now looking at new Annual European Insurance for a family (2 Adults & 2 children)
Does anyone know of any Companies that actually cover civil unrest??
Also need it to cover a BFPO address when we move to Germany later in the year!!
Will be checking out the FCO daily!!

Egypt isn't actually part of Europe, you may find European policies won't cover you.

Thank you for the advice, but after looking at quite a few policies Egypt does come under European policies, not Worldwide.
Its places like Algeria, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Libya that don't.

A normal European annual travel insurance policy won't cover you going to live and work in Germany.

with regards to places that are covered to travel to under a European holiday, many policies will cover Egypt as part of Europe, but a select few will not. As always, its best to check the small print.

Under most insurances, you will see that European cover will cover any country that has a border with the Mediterranean sea, together with countries West of the Ural mountains, but if at all in doubt - CHECK!

I could really do with a policy that would pay out if they advise not to travel. I go in 3 weeks and have booked easyjet flights and hotel with Hotels4U. More than have just said im not covered if they advise not to travel. My hotel was £600 so keen not to loose that.

May be a better alternative than losing your life or limb

Very helpful thanks for that, obviously Id risk maiming my kids for a an all inclusive pina colada.

Just for peoples info, I have phoned hotels4U and they will let people who are traveling to eygpt cancel for £35 amendment fee. Thats V. good news to me. I am going to wait a few days and see what develops.
  • I've got a similar dilemma - although I bought travel insurance with Columbus before the trouble in Cairo.

My daughter is going on holiday to Sharm in 5 weeks with her boyfriend. She booked through Travel Republic - Easyjet flights, with an all inclusive hotel.

I doubt if Travel Republic will cough up anything if they can't go, and I suppose travel insurance will end up being a wrangle too! The only thing I'm banking on is that I paid for the both of them on my Barclaycard with the knowledge:o hopefully, that if anything went pear-shaped, I'd be able to claim back through credit card company.

Anyone think this is correct thinking?

    What about your flights tho'?

At the moment easyjet are offering a voucher valid for a year to the amount you paid, if they cancel the flights I would have thought they would offer a refund
