How to dispose of a moped

Hi
I'm looking for some advice regarding my son's old Peugeot moped which has been residing in our back garden for the last 7 years since he wrote it off in a bad accident.
I need to get rid of it as we may be moving soon and I am at a loss as to the best way to do this.
The moped was written off but I do not know exactly what the damage was (and he wouldn't know either - he was just glad to be able to walk away from it!) - looking at it, it appears that most of the bodywork seems ok and I was wondering if I might be able to sell it to someone who could break it up for spares? Would the best way to do this be say on ebay? Or local paper?
Or should I just call a breaker's yard and ask them if they can take it?
I'm a bit worried also about where I stand regarding road tax as we haven't received any reminders in the last 7 years about declaring SORN (which it has been because it has been in the back garden!) so I don't want to open up a can of worms!
I would be grateful to receive any advice because I've never had to do this before and don't want to mess it up.
Thanks

The traditional method is to leave it out in plain view, unsecured.0

It might have to come to that!0

I could be wrong, but I thought that as long as it has never been SORN'd, i.e. it was off the road before the SORN legislation came in, then it doesn't have to be and you're ok in that regard.0

Round where I used to live the normal method to dispose of mopeds, bikes or anything else really was chuck in the canal.
Seriously now as said just bung it on eBay listed exactly as it is even if you get a fiver someone will take it away.0 -
Try contacting your local Youth Offending Team they may have groups/programmes running where they could really do with spares etc.0
