They get annual returns by NI number from all ISA managers. They may be able to help. Your local office certainly can't as ISAs don't otherwise figure on SA / PAYE etc records.

But if you lost it 6 years ago ..... why is the 12 week wait for 'my lost account' a burning issue?

This post could have been written by me,word for word!I am in EXACTLY the same position...took out an ISA in January 2001,thanks to paperwork being destroyed I have no record and I am in desperate need for the money yet my bank say that as it's over 10,they no longer have my bank statements (yet they know my name,address and account number from their records) they are unable to trace the original cheque that paid into my account from the ISA that I took out.
I have NO idea which bank/building society I took it out with,only the date but I know I did it physically.
After going through several sites,credit report,tax office (useless as ISA's are tax free so they have no record),bank ombudsman,citizens advice (who made me contact 2 websites that specialise in lost ISA'S) ,the government and physically writing to and phoning all the local banks and building societies of where I was living at the time...with no name of the company,no one has any record of me....
There HAS to be a solution.I have money out there that I need and no one can help me unless I have the name of the company!?If I had that'I'd know where the heck my money was!
