Lost isa - help needed

Hi, please help me!!!

I have lost the details to a cash investment i made in 2001. I took out an ISA for a few thousand pounds with a company which i can not remember the name of. It was set up in 2001 and i have no correspondance from the company and have since moved house.

Is there a way a can trace the ISA or is there some sort of register i can look up to see which company holds my cash?????

I have tried to trace it through the cheque i wrote to set up the ISA however my bank do not keep cheque records older than 6 years

Please help me

Thanks

HMRC runs an ISA Helpline. I've no idea if this works, but they might be able to look up what's recorded against your National Insurance number.

My Lost Account (above) is the only service that will do this for you.

Are you sure you don't have any paperwork anywhere? How about any information from the account the money came from?

Your own tax office has this information on your records for sure.

Do you remember how you opened the account? Did you go somewhere to make your payment? Did you find them online and make the payment by post? Was it someone recommended on here?

Certainly worth trying your local HMRC office, they should have a record somewhere in the system. I should have thought it should be linked to your NI Number.

If you cannot remember the name of the company or have any paperwork then I doubt there is any easier way.

If you can remember at least something then that would be a start to getting more info and tracking it down.

Did you pay the money by cheque or card? Maybe your bank has a record of it
