Dubai isn't like NYC or London. You cannot walk anywhere because of the distance and heat, therefore you will be spending most of your time in taxi's.
Dont forget the UAE is an Islamic country and you must respect local culture or else you could find yourself in trouble, like many other Brits have.
Yes, I have read up on the culture and the ways to respect it.
I realise it's not like NYC/ London, but I am looking forward to things such as Sega Republic, ice skating, The Atlantis Water park and just general chilling out.
But as I said, a 10 day holiday for £315... I can't complain too much.
Thanks for the info

OK. Well if you are certain on going to Dubai I'd advise you to look at Emirates for the flights.
How much more are the flights with Emirates? I bet there isn't a big difference in price?0 -

I've checked and it's about £200
I've looked at some Swiss reviews and they seem good for economy travel.
So I'm thinking of going with Swiss for £315.There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't

my daughter has lived in dubai for 10 yrs now.
we are flying with swiss air in march.
we went with them last oct,and it was great, food and service good,
was a little worried about underground tube to gate in zurich, but was easy so not worried this time.
dubai is amazing everone from every culture is respectful and you feel as if you are in another world.
its true that most women and children vacate due to the summer heat.
my daughter and 2 grandchildren come to england for 4 weeks then lebenon for a couple of weeks as they have an apartment there, due to my son in law being from there.
i have never been in summer but everywhere inside has air con and
i promise you will fall in love with dubai and its people.0 -
Hi Kattybunny,
If you haven't booked already have a look on Opodo, using the £20 off voucher which can be easily found in the home page. £315 is a good price, but have a look there first just incase!0 -

Hi, i appreciate peoples perception of 'unbearable' will be personal, but i've been twice in August and walked all over the place! This with 4 children aged from 15 years to 12 weeks old! We loved it and really didn't see what all the fuss is about! Las Vegas in the summer yes, that goes towards unbearable, but Dubai, be sensible if you don't do well with the heat and you'll be fine! Do get away from the beaches and visit the city-lovely.Do go to brunches the one at the Mina a salaam is brilliant, the Burj nice for the experience, but the Mina definately better!
If you like F1 there is a track there that you can ride on all equipment provided for all abilities.Loads of ex pats go there and it's brilliant-can't remember the name! We have gone twice for 14 nights in August and have had a wonderful time! Enjoy
