Hi,
I'm not sure about the Tesco Finest Home Insurance. But, Home Emergency Cover is definitely worth having as it can save you alot of cost. If you have to call out for a plumber, electrician or lose your house keys, it would cost you much more than your annual premium for the emergency cover.
Moreover it provides you 24/7 assistance.
So, I think its worth having it.
Also, legal protection is good to have.
It would generally cover you for the following
Personal injury or death.
So, for example, if a friend becomes injured on your property, then the legal protection should cover you for a claim made for compensation up to the specified amount. This will tend to exclude cases of medical negligence or accidents involving motor vehicles.
Purchase or sale of the residence.
This is basically cover for contractual disputes arising from the sale of the property – for example with the estate agent, or firm involved with the removal process.
Property disputes concerning your residence.
This provides protection for disputes involving noisy neighbours, boundary disputes, or damage to the property where no-one has admitted liability etc.
Consumer disputes.
This is cover for any disputes arising from buying, hiring or selling goods in the home.
Employment disputes.
This can cover you for costs arising from an employment dispute involving a tribunal – such as a case for unfair dismissal, for example.
Tax investigation.
It’s possible to get cover for any legal costs that arise from the Inland Revenue looking into your tax affairs.
Pls make sure to check the T & Cs before taking up any of these options.

Just a quickie please
When I have gone on to pay for the Tesco Finest home insurance by paying monthly - a screen appears for a "Fixed sum loan agreement" is this normal for a pay monthly insurance policy ? Also does anybody know what the cancellation policy is ? i.e. you can change your mind within 14 days and is there any charge for this?0 -
any ideas?0

As regards to the fixed term loan agreement, many companies will refer to this type of thing as they will be charging you an APR / interest rate on the monthly payments. I wouldn't worry about this - it generally doesn't involve credit checking, searches, etc.
Most home policies purchased online will allow a cooling off period (possibly less any amount that they have covered you for since the start date of the policy). The length of this can vary.
When you went through the quote was the a link to view the policy documents? You could possibly find the information there.
Or you could give them a ring with your online reference number to clarify their criteria on this - ask about any admin / cancellation charges and your cooling off period. Make sure you record the time and date of the call and the full name of the person that you spoke to. They probably would be able to set the policy up for you and honour your online price.
I had Tesco home insurance for 2009/10 purchased online and I'm sure there was a cooling off period or I would not have gone ahead but I can't remember the details.
Hope this helps.0 -
Hello there.
My apologies but I have never posted before so not even sure if this is the right place.
I have Tesco finest home insurance and thought at first I was making the smart choice. However, not too sure now. Just spent 35 minutes on the phone trying to make a new claim (20 minutes of this time was on hold) and not even sure what the cost to me will be as it was an 0845 number and the saynoto 0870 had no options for it. But I digress. I have never made a claim before and assumed that honesty would be the best policy. Boy was I wrong. Informed them that over the period of a month there were 3 incidents which caused damage to my floor and seeing as I was covered for accidental damage thought they would be able to help with replacement or repair. Boy was I wrong again. According to the girl on the other end of the phone, because there were 3 incidences (spelt wrong) they would have to register 3 separate claims FOR ONE FLOOR and have to pay 3 excess penalties!!!! Can anyone tell me if this is even legal or have I been completely deluded in dealing with these people??0
