T-Mobile Sharp Practice - PAC Request - Check Your Bill
Options
I thought it may be helpful to share this.
My T-Mobile contract 12 month period was due to end at the end of this month (it started at the end of January 2010). As I switch providers to take advantage of the latest cashback offer, I requested a PAC at the beginning of the month in preparation. I used the PAC at the end of this week and the number is due to transfer at the beginning of next week (beyond the 12 month minimum term) onto my new contract. Also bear in mind that you pay IN ADVANCE for line rental, so I have already paid for January.
It was therefore surprising to see an Early Redemption Fee of £20+ added to my bill today. I queried this and as a gesture of goodwill they are going to waive the fee. However, the explanation was surprising - this is apparently T-Mobile Policy because I requested the PAC and it was issued on the same day? And waiving the fee suggests that I should be paying it - why?
Surely this cannot be correct practice - charging you to leave your 12 month contract at the end of the term (and when you have paid for that month already)?
Anyway, I am flagging it here as a word of warning to check your final T-Mobile bill in case this has happened to anyone else.
