I'm offering my advice based on common sense. If I was in that situation and had a baby to look after i'd sort out the heating before posting on an internet forum for help. Or is this baby also being financed by taxpayers? Certainly sounds like it, given the lack of personal responsibility shown by the OP.
You don't spend several days posting on internet forums unless you're one of those Facebook generation people who doesn't live in the real world and is detached from reality.
My advice is to buy or borrow a heater to ensure at least one room is warm. That's good advice and certainly better than spending several days in the cold waiting for a landlord to return and asking for help on a forum whilst your baby suffers from the cold.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -

What a hypocrite! You seem to spend all your days posting on an internet forum!! I would imagine that given your attitude, ie nasty person, you don't have any friends in the real world that would help you if in a similar situation. Probably why you show such a lack of compassion for others....0 -

Either you are a troll or argumentative, one only has to look at your posting history to see that.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Argumentative?? So it's ok for you guys to make personal statements about people that come asking for help but not ok for others!
I have never seen so many horrid comments as i have on this site! I bet Martin Lewis is really proud of you all lol....0 -
Ladymarmalade, it would be much better for your blood-pressure and your RSI if you just chose to ignore unhelpful and irrelevant comments. I find this scrolly-wheel-thingy on my mouse most useful sometimes. I suggest you give it a try.
Cluttering up this thread and getting into an argument with other posters isn't really of any help to anyone, especially the OP0 -
the nanny state has bred the self-help gene out of a lot of people and we cannot expect those people to have any common sense0

Either argumentative or leaping to conclusions, you choose. If you had bothered to read the thread before trolling you'd see my position. If you don't like the way the forum is run after 14 posts ... Have you found DT yet? :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
i house a fair few single parent mums... and i think the comments about them sitting waiting for others is utterly incorrect in this situation and most hurtful for OP
To have got environmental health involved last year - was a HUGE decision and a big step for a young mum...- she must have realised one of the consequences of that could have been eviction
I find it quite unbelievalbe how little some young mums know about the world, and the practicalities of living.... they were not taught this stuff at school.. and the internet is a fantastic tool for finding out anything...
i think it unfair to criticise a young woman who is doing her best in very trying circumstances.... OP - ignore the neg heads.....
have you found a heater yet ?
What part of the country are you in ? someone here may have one0 -
Evoke - thanks for the mean comments. Im not just sitting around expecting everyone else to help me. I have an extremely unhelpful LL and i find most of the people on this site are really helpful with giving advice which i appreciate.
I have gone out and bought myself two heaters today. Still not exactly a warm house and im still stuck with no hot water thanks to a broken immersion switch that the LL has refused to do anything about for months.
Im not a bad mum and your comments have really upset me insinuating that im not responsible enough to have a baby. Yes, i am on benefits at the moment, i feel like i should be ashamed to even admit that. My baby's father sadly passed away in an accident before we even knew that i was pregnant so i don't have any other means of help with money, not that i expect to at all, so yes, i am solely responsible for my baby. I was made redundant after 4 years working at the same place as it went bust in the same month that i also found out i was pregnant and no employers wanted to touch me with a barge pole while i had a huge pregnant bump!! Im so sorry that i have chosen to look after my baby for a year before i return to work and dont worry, i WILL be returning to work in few months hopefully to try and give my baby a decent life so we wont be wasting much more of your tax money.
Maybe i need to grow a thicker skin. I suppose i must be an incredibly pathetic person because i feel really sad now and your comments have actually made me cry.
Thank you everyone else for the help. Still no word from my LL so i have spoken to the environmental department at the council and they told me to ring back in a week if i still have no heat/hot water and they will attempt to chase my LL. Not exactly what i expected to hear but never mind. In the meantime i will be trying to find a LL who will take me without a guarantor so i can get out of this place asap.0 -
Sorry for my self-pitying post above. I don't know what's come over me. I am really grateful for the help i've received so far, it has been a huge help. I think it would be best to just let this thread disappear into oblivion so i don't have to see any more mean comments!0
