Bluetooth not working - any suggestions

I have an nokia n6700 with orange and have been trying to connect to bluetooth for the past fortnight on and off and it just keeps saying trying to connect but never actually does.

Any suggestions?

What are you trying to connect to?

Can the other device(s) see the phone at all?

And where it the other BT device ?

I had a call once form a customer who said she couldn't connect to her sisters phone via BT, when I asked where her sister was she told me she was in Leeds, while she'd gone home to Sheffield!

It wont switch on let alone try and find anyone else. Although I am trying to connect to my husbands phone which is in the same room as me. I dont show up on his connection list.

If the bluetooth will not turn on on your phone then you won't get very far at all sadly.

You won't show up on any list if the bluetooth is off.

Have you set your phone to 'discoverable' ? Have you give it a name?

If set to discoverable, it'll only sit in that mode for 60 seconds before switching off.

Not all phone's will connect to other phone's, some will only talk to car kits and headsets. If you're trying to send files that might be the problem.

The iPhone, for example won't. Apple didn't put 'object push' (the bit of BT that sends or receives file) into Bluetooth. As they say they don't want peopel sharing paid for content...
