Just browsing through the Freeview HD channels on my new Sony Bravia TV and Sky Sports 1 & 2 are in the menu's on the channels there (although nothing comes up when I click on them)
Am I able to subscribe somehow (without a dish etc) ?
Cheers for any help

So am I right in thinking I need to buy another freeview box?
How annoying.0 -
Not if your TV has a cam slot, look in the manual or post model number.

It's a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX503
Thanks for your help on this one.0 -
That Sony model does indeed have a CI card slot for Top Up Tv."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I have a 40EX703 and can confirm that the slot on these TVs is a CAM slot into which you have to insert a CAM device. You then put your viewing card into the CAM device.
Not sure, but I think that only ESPN and Gold/Home are available using the CAM sold by Top Up TV.
IIRC this is because Sky won't let their channels be encrypted using anything other than their NDS Videoguard system, which they don't permit to be loaded onto CAMs.
So unfortunately, unless you only want ESPN for sport, you'd have to get a Top Up TV seperate box to watch Sky Sports.
EDIT: The Top Up TV CAM for ESPN is detailed here: http://www.topuptv.com/cam/
And yes, it only allows ESPN reception with a viewing card subscription. They do have an offer for a free cam if you sign up for 6 months.
You need the seperate box for £30 if you want the Sky Sports sub.... (EDIT EDIT - At present - see my next post!)0 -
Google reveals however that the situation may be about to change as Sky have had an OFCOM ruling against them!

As the Sony has a CI+ CAM slot, this means when TUTV do start selling CI+ CAMs, which may be very shortly, you will be able to watch Sky Sports directly without having a seperate box!
Can only suggest that you contact TUTV to find out when CI+ CAMs will be available.0 -
Wish they would reduce the sub as well!! £39.99 pm is a lot extra for just Sky Sports 1 + 2 - same as I currently pay for my whole Sky package inc all Sky sports0
