How many kitchens does one house need?

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-17986530.html

If you look at floorplan 1, seems every reception room needs its own kitchen!

Amazing views.

Personally, as a single person, I'd like three. Two is probably what I'll end up with though.

That place was obviously built as some kind of hotel/serviced suites/bedsits/HMO/student let place, or maybe flats. Floorplans are too small to see on my tiny screen.
  • And how many front doors?

They don't seem to be that keen on landscaping and gardening, do they?

    Baffling number of kitchens indeed.

Could it perhaps be a deluxe retirement home of sorts for the super wealthy? A private kitchen for each inhabitant and for each of their private cooks/servants?

Otherwise it doesn't make any sense at all.

What an ugly looking new build place! I can only assume the mutiple kitchens, bedrooms etc and the price tag of £6,500,000  is because it is near the film studios, and therefore is ideal for putting up or renting out to lots of people whils't they are working on a production. Indiana Jones anyone?:D

  • It looks like a prison hospital, maybe they have just photoshopped the bars off the windows!
  • Looks like a school or a care home to me!
    Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
Decided to give up, and haven't had a fag for 12 years.
    Halfway through losing six stone.

  • yes lot of kitchens, looks like 3 seperate homes to me that ended up as one

but even then still too many kitchens, weird, or maybe they thought kitchens were like bathrooms one for every bedroom lus a spare!

Seems it was built as a single family home albeit an extended family. A Mr Shah was the applicant.
He lists his address on the application as c/o Joysleep Ltd.
That company has recently gone into voluntary liquidation. Perhaps that is why they are selling?

If you look here, in the London Gazette, at the first 6 notices you will see that all 6 directors give the Norwegian Barn, Edgwarebury Lane, Elstree as their home address.

Looks like they contravened some planning rules.
That's why it has a massive empty basement area. Apparently that shouldn't be there at all.

    More here:-

They never did comply with the landscaping conditions.

    Original planning apllication here:-

and several others if you care to search.

Although this ad describes it as "4 inter-connecting family homes."

Seems they wanted another kitchen in the basement too .......

Apparently, a number of businesses are linked to that address, one of which looks to have gone into administration in 2010.

I think the property look like a BUPA hospital - if I had 6m I reckon I could find something nicer.
