I E- mailed M & S re the Delivery charges and here's the reply, Personal details edited out :

    Dear ******

Thank you for your email about the delivery charge on two of your recent orders. I'm sorry the charge was not removed as expected and for any disappointment this has caused you.

Having looked in to the offer for free shipping, I can confirm the offer ended at 10pm on 29 January. Therefore the orders placed before 10pm have had the delivery charge removed but the ones placed after have been charged £3.50.

In the future, I'd recommend placing all items onto the one order to avoid multiple delivery addresses.

I can confirm the delivery to store option is now available if you would like to place any more orders.

If we can be of any further assistance, please visit our help page at: http://help.marksandspencer.com or via a web enabled mobile. Alternatively, you can call us on 0845 609 0200 or +44 1925 672 317 if you’re calling from overseas. Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.

This is the E-mail I sent them:

    Dear M & S

I did 6 clothing orders on 29/1/11. The first 4 orders I was given free automatic delivery. The last 2, I was charged for delivery. I tried to get the last 2 delivered to the M & S in ****** but the system would not accept this choice of store and I could get no further on the order and had to pay for delivery. I had a 7th order pending, but decided not to order as I did not want to pay anymore delivery charges and the sysyem was still not allowing me to choose a deliver to store option
Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

I queried why I could not get the deliver to store option, and was told it was a 'Health & Safety issue'. They said that that stores cannot cope with the volume of items during a sale!

    They haven't refunded my p&p. :(

I telephoned to confirm my 'moany' email (about store collect) as I wanted to order and said it was very confusing to reach check out and find this which still gives choice of store/home and I'd already lost one item with all my messing about trying to get store delivery accepted.

The person I spoke to said not possible for sale which is home delivery only and didn't know it was showing and she would contact tech dept (but I notice it's still the same in recent links above).

My argument was that if it's not available, then it shouldn't be there and I enclosed above.

I would email/telephone and point out that the option is still showing. I did have to go on a bit before the refund was agreed! :( I think she clicked on item I wanted and saw it for herself....

I've just fired off another Email as they didn't reply as to why I could not collect in store. I couldn't even reply directly to the Email as its come from a 'no reply' e mail address. So I copied and pasted it all and sent it via their website.
