well done you.dont buy nappies, use an old towel and a couple off saftey pins, baby wont notice the difference.

we dont have many towels :o
my youngest is 16 months i think morrisons do some nappies for £3 odd which i find better than pampers etc, i am thinking of getting him a potty but not sure if its too early as he only says a few words although i dont think it would harm to put it in room as sure he will do it in his own time

Time for potty training I think and 16 months is easily the right time. Don't just leave him on the potty, do the proper training - it will save you an absolute fortune. When I was a young mother (many moons ago) my mother was absolutely appalled that I allowed my children to go beyond a year before getting them 'on the pot'.

tbh i would of had him on it ages ago had he been walking - we moved house in October and at the time he was only just taking his first steps, he is now mobile so i would say ready i just havent got round to it as yet, he has come quite far in the last few months which has made me proud - sits at the table and eats with us, is walking, starting to talk, and finally the best bit gone from a cot into his own bed and stays in it all night from 8pm till 7am.
I think next payday will be time to buy a potty for him and give it a go

It's nice to see you have managed to find good out of the refusal to provide you with a reloan. It wouldn't have helped to be walking around dwelling on them putting you in this situation-although others obviously see it that you put yourself in this position. Everybodies entitled to an opinion. Anyway, I would have thought exactly the same as you, if Wonga gave you the 1st loan and you paid back on time, you would presume from reading their website that you'd have no problem getting another. Doesn't make sense really does it but anyway as you said they have done you a favour so time to move on. Anyway, I am not sure from what you say whether you are in work or not. Either way you can apply for a Crisis Loan from the DSS. They are there for people who are in a desperate situation. Now I am not 100% sure they would definitely give you a loan, as they may say you have created the situation yourself, but if you explain that you were sure you would have been given the reloan from Wonga because of the website-even refer him/her to the website themselves to see what they think. It's worth a try isn't it if you're not able to sort any money out yourself in the next few days.
By the way Crisis loans are paid back with 0% interest and are set at low repayments, as agreed with you.
I really do hope you get something sorted out. Good Luck :)

Yes, give it a go but he may not pick it up too easily at 16 months so be prepared for him to be ready. As someone mentioned earlier, the OS board will help you meal plan over the next few days if you list your storecupboard ingredients.

Good luck - you will be soooo glad if you can get out of this vicious circle. If these had been easily available 10 years ago then I expect we may have well run into similar problems.

please please please please, let this be your lightbulb moment and stay away from these type of loans.you will after a few months have a few quid set aside for an emergency .....good luck
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • Thank you all very much for the replies
with regards to work we are not working at present - my partner spends a few hours a day most days looking for a job but one has not come up as yet, i cant wait till he does find one i hate been on benefits i feel like were sponging and should bring in our money as we are not ill in anyway i suffer from depression but am still wiling and hoping to work part time once my partner also finds work.
i think we will manage tbh we have been through the food we have and have enough till tuesday by what time i will have a little child benefit, have just been to morrisons and got nappies and 8 pints of milk was a little embarrassing shoving all the copper in self service lol but hey never mind.

once i have a little money i am going to send for my credit reporta as at min just have equifax and get dealing with money situation.

As for potty training will be getting a potty on tuesday and starting him although as someone mentioned i know it will take a while as hes still young

Thanks again feeling a lot better
  • i will have a look at the website you mentioned though as always looking for new ideas
The Old Style I mentioned is not another website, it's on HERE

and they are so imaginative at using what you already have to save you money. I bet if you post on there someone will have ideas about nappies etc.

You sound determined to sort this. Remember, a payday loan only works the first time you use it. From then on you are always playing catch up i.e. because you have to pay it back quickly (and much more) you need to borrow again. The only winner is the lender!

You manage, however difficult, not to borrow, just that once, break that cycle, YOU are that winner! Just think what you could do with that £70 they were charging you! :T
  • nappies in sainsburys are £1. (odd) and when we have run out of money i often buy these, they're not pampers standard but they do the job! good luck

Just googled "Free baby stuff" and there seems to be a lot of Baby clubs free to join which give freebies from Huggies etc.

    http://www.babyfreestuff.co.uk/

I know they won't come in the next day or two, but may help you stay ahead next payday? I should try a few searches. There is a "Free Stuff board on here too- could be worth a look!
