  • I am really proud of myself this month, 9 days in and I have only spent £30.81 on food and have enough in frezer to last me till at least middle of next week. I am actually really enjoying cooking properly and even now have chats with my SIL on what is good on offer, what is cheap to cook etc.

    Morning peeps

just updated my siggy to account for a spend of £27 odd in MrMs that DH did on Monday. I`m a bit  as i put stars next to some items on the list which means to only buy that item if its on offer.

There was a star next to the sausages as i only buy them when an offer is on but they went through the till at full price. DH forgot to check the reciept before he left the shop. Sometimes the butchers style sausages have only one variety on offer though and he could have picked up the wrong ones. Has anyone noticed if its all varieties or just the pork ones as DH bought the lincolnshire ones?

If its all varieties i shall give them a call and ask if they want the sausages back when i take the reciept in, if not i`ll just have to accept that DH made a mistake

On a brighter note we are eating to the meal planner albeit swapping the days around so we are still on target this month for the food, we have gone over on the pet budget though as we needed cat litter. I could have sworn that we had a spare bag in the garden shed but we must have used it and not replaced it at some stage.

    dinner cheese on toast.

had a couple of accidents with the bm recently, forgot to put the yeast in the pizza dough on saturday so it was flat but tasted ok, sunday only put 1/2 the amount of flour in the bread rolls id meant to do them 50 wholemeal 50 plain white ended up a bit sloppy but again tasted ok:rotfl:, yesterday made more bread rolls reread the recipie and double checked everything set it going then started washing up and realised the mixer was on the draining board i didnt think the bm was making as much noise as usual, so quickly stopped it washed hand and delved in to put the mixer blade in place, luckily they rose well and tasted just right:) hoping that all three mistakes out of the way for a while.

    Hi

Just a couple of spends for yesterday and today, £3.52 and 81p in L**l, then after looking for celery in L**l and looking at the price of it in C**p I went to W**trose where I got it cheaper. I also bought some teabags and a large bag of new potatoes reduced to 29p and 2 fresh soup mixes for carrot and coriander soup for 39p each and 2 veg and bean stew mixes for 39p each. I just need to add 2 litres of veg stock to the soup mixes and put them in the slow cooker and I'll have 2 litres of (hopefully really nice) soup for 78p (plus the stock cubes). I think I'll make the stew mixes into a sausage casserole for tomorrow, there should be enough for me to freeze another meals worth, I spent £4.50 in the end. I've updated my signature and am feeling positive that I can make it to pay day without going over budget.

Well, not a good day today :o popped into A**A to collect my new slow cooker and thought I'd see if there were any good whoopsies. Ended up spending £19.23 on butter, cheese (stocked up as it was on offer), pasta and pork. All stuff that I would have bought anyway over the next 2-3 weeks but I'm still cross with myself for giving in .

On the plus side I now have a slow cooker (which dh kindly bought me ;)) so I can start batch cooking and get some easy dinners in the freezer. Oooh what to try first....:rotfl:

Third NSD for me this week, not entirely intentional I had intended to get milk and the gammon for tomorrows dinner but some little **** broke into my car last night so I've been sat in most of the day talking to police and now i'm waiting for forensics to look for prints. Luckily a friend is collecting the children from school but then i'm off to work till half six (boo hoo!) Been a bit upset about the whole thing so baked a lemon crunch cake and an upside pineapple cake so it wasn't an entirely wasted day.....

Got enough milk for OH's coffee in the morning so it's toast for breakfast and a swap round on the meal plan for tomorrow x

Did my last shop of our month today (ends 14/2/11 due to DH pay dates), was quite happy with what I got, actually bought a few treats because we deserved them and my back playing up so not baking much (choccie, some non-homemade cakes).......reasonably within budget but not loads to spare- the way it should be I think :).
Best of luck all of you for rest of your Feb.
I will keep on here when new month starts as it will still be Feb lol xx

  • Pleased with myself, decided to adapt tea not to need double cream, so today has turned into a NSD :T thought it was best to avoid temptation if possible :D
