I know in a few weeks time I will have a big shop because I need to batch cook.
Thanks to all. I feel with this and another few threads I'm so much better off.Saving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -

This weeks update:
OH 3 x prescriptions £21.60 (he has an on going very agonising medical condition)
Me, well firstly I didn't think I'd spent anything, feeling very saintly, then remembered, the tea & cake £2.50 yesterday afternoon and then the drinks I bought at ten pin bowling £3.20 earlier in the week, on both occasions I had taken my children and my nephews out for some fun, conclusion children are bad for the budget despite being great fun.
Weeks total £27.30
Annual Total £594.34
Hugs to everyone who needs one
Does you oh not get a pre paid prescription card or is it unusual for him to get so many prescriptions at once? I used to have to get 1 or 2 different prescriptions a month and it worked out cheaper to get a 3 or even 6 month card. Luckily now I don't take any and just go to hospital for treatment every 2 months instead.
Next time if you haven't got one, it would be worth asking the pharmist for a form so you can claim back the money you pay out while you apply for your card. They can only give it to you on the day you pay for your prescriptions but if you apply online for a card and put that date on for it to start you can then get your money back. A 3 month card is £28.25 and you don't have to worry then if you needed more during that time.
Hope that makes sense.0 -

It just oxidises a bit on the outside so it looks a darker yellow, but i find it is fine and does not affect the taste of my baking or pastry at all. If it has mould on, i would be less likely to, but as it is in the fridge it should be mould free.
DH raided the baking i did last night to take some to work. I don't mind as it is only him and his boss, and seems though the boss gave him a bonus last week then i think it does us good to keep him 'sweet.' (I'd send some in anyway.)
DS was eyeing it up at breakfast time telling me what he was going to eat for pudding today.
Oh well, at least it stops me nibbling it, and i have stuff in to make more nice things.
I think we have enough food in for me to not have to go shopping this weekend, so that is my plan. If i can then do a very small top up next week, i might be able to stop myself going more than 10% over budget. Fingers crossed.

Thank you dingdongavon :A, I was not aware pre payment certificates were available for 3 months. OH's prescription are normally for 2 months, I have just had a look and discussed this with OH and we are both very grateful for the information. OH is hoping to stop needing to use one of his drugs by the next time he will need a repeat. If he can manage with out this drug he can also stop a second as he only takes that to protect against some of the side effects of the first. We will review this when he next orders his prescriptions, thankfully the oxygen he uses is meaning he needs to use less drugs and he finds he is more able to manage the pain. OH will hopefully be going into remission in the near future(we have been thinking this since July), unfortunately he will relapse at a later date as the is the nature of his condition, we will buy a pre payment certificate on day one next time as we know he will need medication for at least a year.
Thank you everyone on this thread as many other have said recently the support we offer is fabulous, whether direct like this or distracting whilst we all mention our latest bargains and temptation, it is a comfort to come and have a chat with friends.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

£2.88 spent today. Got some kidney beans in Tesco and in Morrisons I got some cakes, sweeteners and reduced wraps.
Also spent £4.75 in Superdrug on 5 x body spray which puts me over my total. I've included it, but think in future, I might think of a different way of counting toiletries as tend to buy them in bulk when on offer, so i'm always higher one month. I'll have a ponder.
Now debating whether to just give up this month completely and go to Lidl tomorrow for their offers, or be good and resist! I don't really need what is on offer, but I know i'll use it, so seems silly to ignore it when it's cheaper.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Evening all
Just a update on the spends, did sm shop today and spent a ridiculous amount of money £109.04, did buy some extra bits for the freezer that were on offer but it wasn't huge amounts of meat or expensive bits. Now only have £32 ish for next weeks shop, will be having a look in the cupboards and freezer to see what I can put together to keep within budget if possible. Seem to have plenty of most things so may be do-able - am going to have a good go anyway. Boys at grandparents Mon and Tues so that helps, then will be doing all the normal bits and pieces.
Have a good weekend everyone, keep safe and well.
