Adrian Flux vs Chris Knott £4.50 difference, same underwriter, what would you do?

So not many places will even quote me on the Cefiro this year. Direct Line came out best with a renewal price of £579.82 but will not cover any further modifications (boost controller and air filter) on top of the existing ones (Exhaust, brakes and alloys)

Adrian Flux want £730.00 Chris Knott want £734.50, both are using the same underwriter, Highway.

Now I'm aware that Flux aren't exactly the most reputable of insurers, but I suspect a lot of that is due to their most common underwriter, Equity Red Star, who I will never buy a car insurance policy from again.

Highway are an unknown to me, are they any good?

Chris Knott are also an unknown. My question is, is it worth paying an extra £4.50 to not have to deal with Flux? Are they any good when it comes to time to make a claim?

Still waiting for a call back from A-Plan Thatcham, they didn't return my calls last year either so I'm not hopeful.

This may or may not help really but i used chris knott as my previous insurers (highway), didnt have any problems, the only time i needed to speak to them was when i moved house, they waived my additional £90 (for moving into a higher insurance risk area) and seemed very polite. As my car is modified i found the two you mentioned through recommendations on a owners club website, along with sky insurance who i am currently with (also highway), the price difference is probably down to commisions.

I've used Highway several times, no problems. Didn't make any claims though.

Flux aren't an insurer, they are a broker. I have dealt with them professionally for a few years and would rate them as one of the better motor insurance brokers out there. Avoid A-Plan.

I use Flux for my Land Rover insurance. Never had any problems with them in 15 years. Always polite and helpful on the phone.

However, they have never been able to provide me with a competitive quote on my everyday cars.

I've used A-Plan in Newbury in the past (distant), but they gave me some very bad advice when I insured a heavily modified car through them. They haven't had my business since.

I am aware that they are a broker, as are Chris Knott, hence why I specified the underwriters.

A-Plan and Sky are unable to quote.

So has anyone had to claim off Highway, and/or dealt with Chris Knott?

I used Chris Knott for my Capri insurance for several years. Never had an issue with them and they've always matched quotes on renewal.
  • Try Sky insurance for imports Lum, I got a decent quote from them and know others using them.

Aren't Highway a major underwriter for Traders policies and are notorious for wriggling out of claims?
