Based on this article, they're just seeking to renegotiate the deal with landlords from about 18 months ago - they want to pay their rents monthly rather than quarterly which was the original agreement. I suppose if they can't reach a mutual agreement, who knows .......................

I really hope they don't. More loss of jobs, more misery for familes. They can keep the bargains I'd rather pay full price for people to keep their jobs.

I fear they will be squeezed out - B&Q are clearly the market leaders covering both the amateur and fringe of the professional market, Wickes often win on price albeit they only stock own brand stuff which puts some off, Homebase aren't great but possibly have better locations plus the 10% day is well established in conjunction with the nectar points etc, whereas Focus seem to be something and nothing. Curiously the nearest store to me, closed and moved 4 places along the same retail park into a much smaller unit. On the face of it that might seem sensible in terms of saving rent, but it now means they stock nothing in much depth, and aren't cheaper than B&Q who are just down the road, so where they are getting any business from I don't know.

  • I know a member of staff at our local branch and they have pretty much been told to look for a new job - as it will be going into receivership soon - not looking good - as much as i like a bargain - its so sad when you know people that you know will be jobless - spare a thought guys!

Afraid your wrong - focus is no longer part of wickes - companies went their separate ways a long time ago. Very sad for focus staff if it's true.
