Was it about people coming on here to let us all know how great their own accountancy firms are? :D

Nah, you seem to have that covered!
Despite the name, I'm actually a laydee!

    Yes.

Today I am going to send out reminders to clients telling them the tax year end is 5th April.

I am also going to put a sign up on the door telling any potential new clients not to dare cross my threshold if they have a late tax return, as they have now missed the deadline. I don't want their sort.

Further more, I am going to go round to each individual existing clients house, make them breakfast, and have a meeting about how brilliantly I did getting their returns in on time.

We are all different and you don't have "to get it" but you do yourself no favours by dissecting each and every post with smart !!! comments that add nothing.

You clearly choose to work in a firm (assuming you work for someone rather than yourself from your posts) who doesn't have those beliefs about the sort of clients you want to act for.

Many people are happy churning jobs and getting the money in. There is a market for all.
Maybe its a case of you would like to be where some people are and if so, fair enough, but it does take time and refocusing of your efforts on yoursself and not on what others are doing

    I do "get it".

What I don't like is people dissecting my posts, discrediting everything I am saying, in the naive and childish belief that they are right, I am wrong.

Furthermore, this whole debate has only arisen because I dared to question why the accountants had the time to come on here, read this thread and moan about clients, yet in the same breath say that they don't have time to do their actual work.

How can you make that out from what I have written?

Just because my firm does not reject clients that may bring returns in late, and class them all as "dross". Even go as far as not even listening to a clients reasoning for having a late return, even if they have genuine reasons, and basically dumping them.

That IMO, is the height or irony, people on this thread go on about their all singing and dancing services offered, but if a client dares to be late with a tax return they are cast aside without a second glance!

I am not interested in peoples specific business here, as I have already stated.

I am interested in debating the point that some people on here seem to think they are the messiahs of the accounting world though!

There are also those, it would appear, who feel that this is a forum where it is more important to air their own views than to assist those in genuine need.

I thought the title would give it away:

    "Hands up all accountants -vent"

Yet there are those who would like to try and force their own views and opinions on others.

Even trying to assist people, when no assistance has even been asked for.

Takes it back to some people just being filled with their own self importance I suppose.

I am pleased that you were able to recognise yourself from my post - by the way it is 'their' own views - not 'there'. Just trying to assist .......

No, you recognised yourself. All getting very childish now. :j

Again as a fan of ironic humour - that is quite funny if you look back at your replies. Noone is right or wrong its all different as I said - there is a market for all accountants and all types of work - presumably you accept that??

Bottom line is we could all sit here all day splitting each others posts apart and still not really get anywhere.

This was a thread about venting about clients expecting the world on a plate at last minute around 31st January. Been there done it and bought the T shirt as have most others on this thread.
the point being brought to the table is some people have changed their clients behaviour and/or chosen clients who they want to act for. Its a valid point that is obviously (like all points being raised here) not for everyone

This thread is "Hands up all accountants - vent!"

I would like the site moderator to put up a £100 prize for the person who comes up with the most amusing vent of liam's where we should put a tax return, and why!
