I’m struggling to see how this happened.

Did the child crawl in from the back and put his arm in front of the rear wheel having arranged his bike so it would get dragged by the car when it moved?

Dunno why you started this thread to ask this then:

And one thing seems certain - by initially parking his 4X4 on the pavement your husband definitely has that offence on his conscience!

Pavements aren't special parking spots for big jeep owners!
Quentin - you have abviously got a problem with us for having a jeep !!
Parking on the pavement was never to blame for this
I know of thousands of streets in which every householder has to park like this - streets are too narrow and its a residential area - we are only tallking about the edge of the drivers and rear passengers ( on the drivers side ) wheels here not the whole bloody car !!!
the child must have came from the passenger side anyway as if he was on the drivers side my husband or his friend would have seen him
you dont know all the facts but instead of asking questions you shoot us down
thank god this child is Ok - that is all I have to say and we will get over it eventually
but if it happened to you - would you be happy that somewhere it stated you had n eglegently ran a child over ??
the child was already under the car and we can never ask him what exactly happened as he has downs and can not explain this to us??

...How do I remove this thread....

Not sure that you can, but I believe you can delete your own posts.

    Have a look here:

Thank you to everyone who took the time to post on this but I think it is causing an arguement so I will be removing the post

There is no "argument" apart from you swearing and arguing against the advice others have offered in response to your request for some!

And why do you want to remove the thread?

    OK.

Is there a notice allowing parking on the pavement?

I assumed not as you have never mentioned this in your "defence" - which was that your husband parked on the pavement because "the whole street parks like this"!

No answer to my questions as yet and now the OP wants the thread removed.

Sort of defeats the point of posting in the first place

Kid on the pavement/road, car drives over him - I would imagine the driver's liable. For insurance purposes, there's normally no defence with the old "I didn't see him" excuse. Pedestrains have right of way, not cars.
