Why ?,
No, its a fact.
Backed up by considerable evidence, from sources such as CAB, Harringtons report, Case Law, experience etc.
ATOS do not ask test the descriptors directly, they interpret (and not very well) other evidence to decide what you should score.
A human does not do the scoring, a computer program does.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

Exactly why self scoring is a waste of time, you may score fairly and honestly, ATOS does NOT.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Not in all cases though.
According to that test, I score quite high. However, it does depend on whether I'm having a good day or not.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

kingfisherblue-ATOS have a set of questions to ask,no matter what your illness is,i can score myself highly, but ATOS don't.ATOS awarded me my full pension and said i will never work again, yet when i claimed ESA the same ATOS but different department put me in the work focus group, they are a law unto themselves0

They may argue that going to college may mean he can work.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I have cancer and I completely disagree!
There are many serious illnesses and no particular subset of illnesses should have different rules, all claims should be treated the same whether they involve a famous well publicised condition or a rare unknown one.0 -
going to be very difficult to pass it compared to passing the ib test.
John
What specifically do you think is harder to pass / stricter about the new rules?
I feel that in some ways for some people the new test will be easier to pass because it highlights the importance of a task being repeatable and so takes far more account of pain, fatigue etc.
For this reason, personally I think I am more likely to get into the support group with the new (post march 2011?) regulations as long as they are accurately applied.0 -
I got 42 points. And there's nothing wrong with me (in my eyes). Highly intelligent, able and functioning person .... except for a few odd foibles0

My score would vary from day to day.
On a 'good' day I score about 70, much more on a 'bad' day. ....or at least those are the scores I honestly believe are fair.
My concern is that ATOS will not see things the same way. Most of my problems are due to Autism - and are not immediately noticable. My GP and my specialist know me well and both have said I should not even be looking for work. AN ATOS operative (many of them are not doctors) would not necessarily have anmy understanding of the variable nature of my condition and yet can override the professional opinion of my doctors inside half-an-hour.0
