We want to see a lot of the famous sites so can peeps advise all the best attractions places to visit? for example empire state, statue of liberty!
should we book any attractions before we go?
i have been told to go to a baseball game because they are brilliant is this true? are they like football games back here?
as well as the attractions we intend to do a lot of shopping!
where are the best places to shop for designer bits?
how cheap is abercrombie/juicy/ralph?
are perfumes/colognes cheaper?
ipods cheaper?
we are going to go woodbury common one day or maybe 2!
are the shops a lot cheaper than usual stores?
what are ralph/juicy and prada and gucci like?
are there sales here 2?
last of all where are the best place to dine and go out?
thanks all i know seems like a lot of questions but if peeps just answer the questions they know.

As you say, a lot of questions  but I can only answer a few I'm afraid.
I went to New York at Easter for the first time (though definitely not the last, lol).
Don't miss the Empire State Building, but do it in daylight so you can see over Central Park. Do the Rockerfeller Center at night so you can see the ESB all lit up - it's magical!!
Do the semi-circle boat trip (the full circle covers areas where there's not much to see). If you can arrange this so it's turning dusk, you'll get the skyline with all the lights, again magic!!
Definitely pay for the hop-on, hop-off bus. We took the full round trip first, so you can decide where you really want to get off. One of the best trips is the night time Brooklyn ride. It goes over the Brooklyn Bridge so you get all the sites - wow!!! Do wrap up warm though, it'll be freezing in January (it was very cold at Easter).
If you can afford it, see a show on Broadway. I'm not that keen on musicals, but we went to see Lion King and it was absolutely fantastic - well worth every single penny of the ticket price (about $160 each).
There are literally thousands of places to eat, but two of the most entertaining we went to were the Red Lobster and Bubba Gumps, both in the Times Square area. Test out the cheaper diners, there's no need to spend loads on food and despite what you may be told, it is possible to find healthy food if you look around.
Take her to Tiffany's (if you dare) the diamonds are amazing! Have a look in Macy's - but you can spend all day in there, it's huge (pick up a 10% voucher to use on everything you buy there, you'll need a credit card or passport for ID).
They've just re-opened the Statue of Liberty again (been closed since 9/11) so you should do that if you get a chance, but I understand it's as well to pre-book, so you could do that as soon as you get to NYC perhaps!
My son was there during the big snow in February and his photos are fantastic. If you could cope with the cold, I hope it snows while you're there. Apparently they are much better at clearing the roads etc than we are in this country, so it doesn't stop the traffic, but it did look like an old-fashioned Christmas card, with the snow and the lights.
As you can no doubt tell, I loved my holiday so much we're going again next March. I hope you enjoy yours just as much I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 I let my mind wander and it never came back!0

Forgot to mention the World Trade Centre. The central part overlooking ground zero has lots of cafes and shops and is a beautiful place to spend a couple of hours. Come out of the door by the river and walk down to Battery Park. There are views all the way of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
You can get the Statten Island Ferry (free) if you want to see the statue up close and don't want to spend on the circle-line trip, but it doesn't actually go to the island.
Trump Tower is worth a look - it's so over the top, lol.
Go see Strawberry Fields in Central Park, just opposite where John Lennon lived and died (Yoko Ono still lives there).
The Natural History Museum is fascinating, but it's too big to do in a day. If you're interested in the American Indian culture, there's a Native American Museum which is good.
If you're lucky they may well be filming somewhere and you may get a chance to see one or two film stars wandering about.
The guides on the hop-on, hop-off buses are brilliant and give so much interesting info on who lives where and stuff - excellent!
Sorry, I could go on and on, but I'l shut up now!
Enjoy yourselves!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0

woodbury common is like Mcarthur glenn if you have been to one before....The tourist info place in NY told us to go to the outlet in New Jersey instead but we still went to woodbury. The trip to woodbury is nice though as you see the outskirts of the city...It was ok but the outlet-shopping mall in Jersey was just as good depending on what you want.We took a local bus there too..The shops have last seasons stuff at woodbury and I got a few tshirts for about $20 from armani exchange..Some of the designer shops had clothes that they probably couldn't sell as they were funny sizes or strange colours..Century 21 I think is the name is a huge department store that is cheap it's right next to Ground zero..Also if you want cheap shops try tjmaxx..(same as TKMAXX over here)
Try to go to Katz diner as it's a great novely..It's where harry met sally was filmed and the breakfast is good too...I could go on and on lol0

not sure what sort of place you prefer, but if you want the views with your meal something kind of romantic for your other half check out the view i think it is on the 45th floor of the marriott hotel i will double check this when my wife returns,im sure it was the marriott near times square.also there is a nice little restaurant the other side of the brooklyn bridge with fantastic views of the downtown skyline.danny210583 wrote:last of all where are the best place to dine and go out?

I suggest you read this thread :- It's covers all the "MUST DO's" within NY.

As someone else said, it doesn't take much effort to find it yourself
As for shopping, NJ is better especially if you're looking to buy clothing/shoes etc as these items are TAX FREE, whereas taxes in NY can be up to 17%.0

            another thing.
do not miss out the ice skating rink in central park near the plaza hotel.
and central park zoo which is 5 minutes walk away.0
