Getting rid of Prepayment Meters

Hi,
Can anyone advise me on this. I have had prepayment meters for both gas and electricity for a long time. I have never switched, but recently had a look at it, and the biggest saving I can get is about 250 pounds, switching both, staying on the prepayment meters.
The question is if I got rid of them would I make more savings as at the moment when comparing they all come up with me staying with PP. I would like to see if there is a better saving to be made as a first timer. I am with British Gas and Scottish Power. Would they charge me for changing the meter?
Thanks

British Gas generally don't charge to change the meter. I don't know about Scottish Power but I think they probably do. You will save by changing to an ordinary meter on the cheapest tariff, paying by direct debit.0

Why not put you consumption into the comparison sites by as a credit meter customer. That will tell you how much you can save if you had a CR meter. If you save enough and you were charged £50 per meter you could still well be in pocket in the first year.
Remember you will need to pass a credit check to get a CR meter.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Thanks for your help - duh! why didn't I think of putting the details in as a credit meter customer. Off to do that and see what I get. Good to know SG won't charge so thanks.Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21
