prepay meter to credit meter for free, is it possible?
I have had prepayment meters in my flat for a good few years now and now my lodger has moved out and my gf has moved in and we want to change the meters.
We both now own the 100% of the house(i use to own 25% on shared housing assoc scheme thing) and we have called british gas and they have changed the gas one for free, but scottish power want £40 to change the electricity one.
Is there a way of getting this done for free, i would be happy to go to dual fuel with a company(as long as it is cheaper).
Thanks

Ask British Gas if you change to them if they will change it for free. They probably will.0

Thank you will give it a try.
Am I in some sort of time warp here?I can confirm that BG will take it out for free but i had to make 2 appointments before they actually turned up and scottish power will want £40 for taking it out."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Yes i was advsing the user that BG will change her gas meter for free as that was who supplied her gas and scottish power would take £40 for changing her electricity meter because that is who supplied her electricity.
The poster was in the same situation, i have went ahead and got the gas meter removed for free, but dont really agree with paying £40 or the meter to be changed so am trying to look at a way of getting it done for free.0
