Must be a joke post. Has to be anyway- I'm not sure who Tod is, but if it was a serious question, there's a few issues there...0

Do you get like a drag effect from the other vehicle and save on diesel?
I tried this the other day , but the guy in front kept breaking for no reason which made it difficult to stay close.

If I follow a lorry on the motorway at a safe distance, I have noticed my fuel consumption increase as I have a live display, but as I like to see the road, I don't do it for long..0

and does not keep breaking for no reason
Surely the fact that tod doesn't know the difference between 'breaking' and 'braking' would indicate someone either of extreme youth or not much education?I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Or they just made a typo?0

I don't really want to support the op here in any way as he does appear to be trolling, BUT, chastising anyone for there spelling and being judgemental about it is not right. That post wasn't needed to be honest,:oI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

if there are so many people here saying that tailgating is a crazy idea, then why are there so many on the roads? Or have i missed the thanks on the OP's post?
As for fuel consumption coasting downhill, depends how steep the hill is - I'm better off in gear if possible (plus this saves wear on the breaks (sic)), but if theres a smaller gradient I'm better off in neutral (covering the clutch in case I need to stick it in gear before going into a tree to satisfy the insurance bods!). But in neutral the fuel use is tiny: my readout is 999mpg in gear, and 999 but briefly dropping to 500 every 2 seconds in neutral. With the air con on, the max I see is 600mpg when in neutral.0 -
