Any regrets???

Im back on the forum after being away for a while, BR still looming but not yet banging at the door. Previously my husb was SE, he has now been in paid employment for 1 year. We hav unsecured debts in around 45k, we now have a bill due to HMRC for 6.5k. We have also been with CCCS on a DMP for nearly 2 years but because we owe so much and are paying very little each month (200) the debts just arent reducing by very much. I am now working as well but this in turn reduced our tax credits meaning we arent that much better off, but I feel at least I am making an effort. Anyway my main question is do any of you regret going BR, in the sense of losing ur home, that is my biggest worry, I just dont know how much longer we can continue to live below the bread line - I keep telling myself it is only money but when you see your kids going without, cant afford to heat your home, cant afford to actually get to work etc it really does drag you down....sorry to rant, just looking for some reassurance I suppose

Personally, no I don`t have any regrets, but it was the only option in the end and something I never envisaged happening to me.:pB&SC No. 298

if i was in the same position again, i would still go br so no regret in that sense. however, obviously i regret it ever got to that point.
please talk to one of the debt charities, maybe try the national debtline and see what their advice would be. www.nationaldebtline.co.uk

Also agree completely.
I do not regret doing it, i regret having to do it. (also couldn't have done it without this place)
I am now happier and the family is happier.
Best of LuckI'm no expert, but i'll give you my opinion, my support and my experience. Its all i have.

I went BR nearly 4 years ago. Like others have said, I wish it had never had to happen, but it did. For me personally, I have found it easier to live with the BR than it was to live with the worry and the pressure of debts we could never clear. Like Falze says, I'm happier and the family is happier now.
All the best

i agree, the best thing i ever did, the stress of trying to make ends meet each month, put real pressure on my mariage and my sanity, i felt like a new woman when i walked out of that court with a chance of having a life again

Hi,this is something i'm thinking about too. we are trying to do a F&F IVA with my parents help after being told my husbands wage is fluctuating too low to be viable for the normal 5/6yr way.
if the f&f isn't accepted we will have to go BR . we don't really want to loose the house but if we do we do!
do most of you who go BR hand your keys back or did you keep paying mortgage& a secured loan? at the moment there's no equity but there may be 2yrs 3mths down the line.
i really need to read up more on this now as we should get the creditors meeting set over the nxt week.
did you use a firm to do you BR or fill forms in yourselves?
thanks, the board is a life line.0 -
fill the forms your self, most of those companys charge alot, and i dont like the idea of not being fulley in control in a situation like this, so i think its best to do it all your self that way you know exactly what is going on - dont want your future in somebodys else hands
( i have no experiance of these companys its just how i felt when i came across them for my own BR)
