virgin media

hey

i have virgin media l internet at the moment, but i had broadband for ages when they were telewest, ive had upgrades from 512k up to the 10mb have at the moment, even still paying the same price of £25.25 a month, mum phoned today, trying to get them to take the price down to the current £12,75 a month, but they wouldn't budge, even tried to get the new modem wit the inbuilt router, which on there site says free to existing customers wit the L broadband which we have, but it says you have to pay 60 if you are upgrading to the 10mb broadband, i cant get my head around how they can fob you off like that

Because they know that you have nowhere else to go if you are on VM cable...
Assuming you are not still in contract, did you say "I shall have to consider taking my business to Sky/TT etc if you can't do something for me?
But remember that any change to tariff with VM starts you on another 12m contract.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Did you try the "I'm thinking of leaving" option on the phone menu. Most people seem able to get some sort of discount that way.

The current price for the L 10Mbps product with no phone line is £20.25 after the introductory half price offer.

best way ot barter is find a better deal on the likes of sky
then go to VM and say you are leaving as you have seen £x deal elsewhere

You need to consider the overall price not the item price for the broadband as somewhere on the invoice there will be a discount. For example on my old 20Mbps invoice the BB was listed at £37 but the £17 discount more than covered the phone line at ~ £12 and brought the price down to £20 which is what it was actually advertised at. It's just the idiotic way they present the bills and discounts.
