Thanks guys, I really am happy he has got more hours, as it does mean he will reach deputy quicker, and the extra money is very nice lol.

I'm sure we will get used to it, its only the last couple of months he has been on 40 hours, so we're still getting used to not seeing each other as much.

Technically he doesn't have to work more than 48hrs a week...thats the limit of the working time directive so as he'd already be doing more than that it would give him more 'rights' to avoid being on call as well
  • My OH is a store manager for Lidl and I know where you are coming from. When he was a dep he was sometimes called in to do extra shifts but no where near as many as he does now. I can't remember the last time he left work on time! He works about 60 hours per week and I don't see him between Tues evening and Friday evening as he works really late both days. I also work fairly long hours as a store manager for another company so finding time together is hard but we make it work. Only recently have we been able to get a day off together each week.

I try to do as much as possible so that when he gets home he can just relax and we always make sure on our evenings off we turn the tv off at 9 and catch up properly. You'll make it work I'm sure and Lidl aren't as bad as you think, it just takes some getting used to!!
